Belgium In The Eurovision Song Contest 2003
Belgium was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with the song " Sanomi", written by Yves Barbieux, and performed by the group Urban Trad. The Belgian participating broadcaster, Walloon (RTBF), internally selected in December 2002 its entry for the contest. The song, "Sanomi", was presented to the public on 31 March 2003. This was the first-ever entry performed in a constructed language in the Eurovision Song Contest. Belgium competed in the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 24 May 2003. Performing during the show in position 22, Belgium placed second out of the 26 participating countries, scoring 165 points. This was Belgium's best result in the contest since their victory . Michel Follet
Michel Follet (born 16 December 1959) is a Flemish radio and TV host and a film critic. Follet started his radio career for Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie, VRT as a disc jockey on Radio 2 (Belgium), Radio 2 in 1982. In 1992 Follet co-founded MNM (radio station), Radio Donna and presented the show ''Jabbedabbedoe''. Between 1994 and 2015 he was film critic for the regional channel ATV in Antwerp. In 1996 Follet provided the VRT television commentary for the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest (alongside Johan Verstreken) when regular commentator André Vermeulen was unable to make it to Oslo to commentate. In addition Follet has provided the VRT Radio commentary every year since the Eurovision Song Contest 1997, 1997 Contest and in 1999 he won the Eurovision Song Contest awards. Jean-Pierre Hautier
Jean-Pierre Hautier (18 October 1955 – 12 October 2012) was a Belgian television presenter and broadcaster for RTBF. Hautier was known for his long-time commentary for RTBF viewers on the Eurovision Song Contest which he had done since the 1994 Contest after the regular commentator Claude Delacroix got promoted to the head of Belgian radio. La Une () is a Belgian national television channel, owned and operated by the French-language public-service broadcasting organization RTBF. La Une is the equivalent of Flemish station VRT 1, of the Flemish broadcaster VRT. History INR Experimental television began in Belgium on 2 June 1953 with the live broadcast of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. Anja Daems (born 26 May 1968) is a Belgian radio presenter and television host. Biography Daems spent her childhood in Geel. She studied at the Conservatory in Antwerp. André Vermeulen
André Leopold Adiel Vermeulen (born 25 October 1955 in Bruges) is a Belgian-Flemish journalist and television personality for VRT. Between 1991 and 2013, Vermeulen following Luc Appermont had been the Flemish commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest. Due to unknown reasons in 1996, Vermeulen was unable to commentate on the 1996 Contest with Michel Follet and Johan Verstreken filling in, however returning to commentate on the 1997 Contest, since the 1998 Contest Vermeulen has co-commentated the event with other television presenters including Bart Peeters and Tom De Cock. VRT 1 is a public Dutch-language TV station in Belgium, owned by the VRT, which also owns Ketnet, VRT Canvas and several radio stations. Although the channel is commercial-free, short sponsorship messages are broadcast in between some programmes. Rudolf Walter Richard Hess (Heß in German; 26 April 1894 – 17 August 1987) was a German politician, Nuremberg trials, convicted war criminal and a leading member of the Nazi Party in Nazi Germany, Germany. Appointed Deputy Führer (''Stellvertreter des Führers'') to Adolf Hitler in 1933, Hess held that position until 1941, when he flew solo to Scotland in an attempt to negotiate the United Kingdom's exit from the Second World War.
