Fiddler Crab - Australia
A fiddle is a bowed string musical instrument, most often a violin. It is a colloquial term for the violin, used by players in all genres, including classical music. Although in many cases violins and fiddles are essentially synonymous, the style of the music played may determine specific construction differences between fiddles and classical violins. For example, fiddles may optionally be set up with a bridge with a flatter arch to reduce the range of bow-arm motion needed for techniques such as the double shuffle, a form of bariolage involving rapid alternation between pairs of adjacent strings. To produce a "brighter" tone than the deep tones of gut or synthetic core strings, fiddlers often use steel strings. The fiddle is part of many traditional ( folk) styles, which are typically aural traditions—taught " by ear" rather than via written music. Fiddling is the act of playing the fiddle, and fiddlers are musicians that play it. Among musical styles, fiddling tends to p ...

Ocypodidae
The Ocypodidae are a family of semiterrestrial crabs that includes the ghost crabs and fiddler crabs. They are found on tropical and temperate shorelines around the world. Some genera previously included in the family are now treated as members of separate families in the superfamily Ocypodoidea, such as the Dotillidae and Macrophthalmidae. In 2016, the genus Uca was split into 13 genera by elevating its subgenera to genus rank, among other things. Further refinements have been made to the organization of the family, which has 4 subfamilies, about 13 extant genera, and about 180 described species as of 2020. The majority of the Ocypodidae species are fiddler crabs, the exceptions being the members of the genus '' Ocypode'', ghost crabs, and the genus '' Ucides'', mangrove crabs. Genera These genera belong to the family Ocypodidae: * '' Afruca'' Crane, 1975 * '' Austruca'' Bott, 1973 * '' Cranuca'' Beinlich & von Hagen, 2006 * '' Gelasimus'' Stimpson 1862 * '' Leptuca'' Bott, ...

''Austruca annulipes'' was formerly in the genus ''Uca'', but in 2016 it became a member of the genus ''Leptuca'', a former subgenus of ''Uca''. They are small crabs. They are seen feeding in the evening on low tide. The males and females differ in size and appearance. The large male crabs spent the longest time excavating their burrows compared to female and smaller male Uca annulipes crabs. Males are attractive because of their bright colored front arm and movements. They are quick to hide in their burrows at the slightest hint of danger. They are prey species of house crow The house crow (''Corvus splendens''), also known as the Indian, greynecked, Ceylon or Colombo crow, is a common bird of the crow family that is of Asian origin but now found in many parts of the world, where they arrived assisted ...

Austruca Perplexa
''Austruca perplexa'' is a species of fiddler crab. It is found from the Ryukyu Islands, Japan to India, throughout the Malay Archipelago, along eastern Australian coasts from Queensland to New South Wales, and in various Pacific islands, including Fiji, Tonga and Vanuatu. ''Austruca perplexa'' was formerly in the genus ''Uca'', but in 2016 it was placed in the genus ''Austruca'', a former subgenus of ''Uca''. As in other fiddler crabs, the male has a greatly enlarged claw, which is used for signalling. The higher the claw is waved by the male, the greater his chance of attracting a female; the size of the claw is therefore subject to sexual selection Sexual selection is a mode of natural selection in which members of one biological sex choose mates of the other sex to mate with (intersexual selection), and compete with members of the same sex for access to members of the opposite sex (in ....
