In typography, the point is the smallest unit of measure. It is used for measuring font size, leading, and other items on a printed page. The size of the point has varied throughout printing's history. Since the 18th century, the size of a point has been between 0.18 and 0.4 millimeters. Following the advent of desktop publishing in the 1980s and 1990s, digital printing has largely supplanted the letterpress printing and has established the DTP point (DeskTop Publishing point) as the ''de facto'' standard. Augustin, Brașov
Augustin (german: Agestendorf; hu, Ágostonfalva) is a commune in Brașov County, Transylvania, Romania. It is composed of a single village, Augustin. Formerly part of Ormeniș, it was split off in 2005 to form a separate commune. The village is located at the northern edge of the county, on the border with Covasna County. It lies in the southern part of the Baraolt basin, on the left bank of the Olt River. Nestled at the foot of the Perșani Mountains, above sea level, it is away from Brașov, the county seat. The Augustin train station serves Line 300 of the CFR network, which connects Bucharest with the Hungarian border near Oradea. The Augustin Zulueta Palace ( es, Palacio Augustín Zulueta) is a palace located in Vitoria-Gazteiz, Álava, Spain, in ''Fray Francisco promenade'', 8. The palace was built in 1912 by the architects Julián de Apraiz and Javier Luque, designers of the New Cathedral of Vitoria-Gazteiz. They followed the taste of the wealthy families of that time. It was Don Ricardo de Augustin, developer of many other buildings, who ordered its construction. The palace currently houses the Museum of Fine Arts of Álava (Museo de Bellas Artes de Álava). The museum is devoted to Spanish art from the 17th to the 20th centuries, as well as Basque art from 1850 to 1950. It was declared ''Bien de Interés Cultural'' in 1962. "" ("Oh, you dear Augustin") is a popular Viennese song, first published about 1800. It is said to refer to the balladeer Marx Augustin and his brush with death in 1679. Augustin himself is sometimes named as the author, but the origin is unclear. Background In 1679, Vienna was struck by the Great Plague and Augustin was a ballad singer and bagpiper, who toured the city's inns entertaining people. The Viennese people loved Augustin because of his charming humour in bitter times, and they called him (Dear Augustin). According to legend, once he was drunk and on his way home he fell in the gutter and went to sleep. He was mistaken for a dead man by the gravediggers patrolling the city for dead bodies. They picked him up and threw him, along with his bagpipes which they presumed were infected, into a pit filled with bodies of plague victims outside the city walls.
