Aubagne
Aubagne (, ''Aubanha'' in Occitan language, Occitan according to the classic norm or ''Aubagno'' according to the Mistralian norm) is a Commune in France, commune in the southern French Departments of France, department of Bouches-du-Rhône. In 2018, it had a population of 47,208. Its inhabitants are known as ''Aubagnais'' or ''Aubagnaises''. In 2020, the commune was awarded three flowers by the National Council of Towns and Villages in Bloom in the Concours des villes et villages fleuris, Competition of cities and villages in Bloom. Geography Aubagne is located in the Huveaune Valley and surrounded by the mountain ranges of Garlaban with Sainte-Baume to the north and east of Marseille. Aubagne was the main city of the former Agglomeration community of Pays d'Aubagne et de l'Étoile; it has been part of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis since 2016. A52 Autoroute
The A52 autoroute is a 25.3 km long motorway in the Bouches du Rhone departement of southeastern France. The road links the A8 autoroute with the A50 autoroute and runs from a junction 1 km east of the Péage de La Barque on the A8 to near the town of Aubagne where it meets the A50. It is a toll road except for the very southern stretch south of the Péage du Pont d'Etoile and is operated by ESCOTA. Traffic information for the road is covered by Radio Vinci Autoroutes (FM107.7). It is a mixture of 2x2 and 2x3 lane road, with recent construction work to widen some of the 2x2 lane sections (2018). The A52 effectively provides a bypass of the city of Marseille, enabling those travelling between Toulon/ Hyeres and Aix-en-Provence and Lyon to avoid travelling through the city. A50 Autoroute
300px, right The A50 autoroute is a French motorway connecting Marseille to Toulon. The motorway is 65 km and has a mixture of 2x2 and 2x3 lanes that run through mountainous coastal terrain along the Mediterranean. As such, it has some relatively sharp turns and steep gradients by French motorway standards, and some sections have a reduced speed limit of 110 km/h. The first section between Marseille and Aubagne was opened in 1962 and was until 1963 part of the A52 autoroute until it was renumbered after the surrounding motorways were constructed. Most of the remainder between Aubagne and Toulon was completed by 1975. Roquevaire
Roquevaire (; oc, Ròcavaira) is a commune in the Huveaune valley between Aubagne and Auriol in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of Southern France. In 2017, it had a population of 9,003. Its inhabitants are called ''Roquevairois'' and ''Roquevairoises''. Geography The villages of Lascours, Pont-de-l'Étoile and Pont-de-Joux are located within the commune of Roquevaire. Santon (figurine)
A santon is a small hand-painted figurine cast in terracotta or a similar material that is used for building nativity scenes. Santons are a traditional product of the Provence region of southeastern France. A maker of santons is called a ''santonnier''. "Christmas in France". World Book, Inc., 1995. . They became popular during the French Revolution, when the churches were closed and the larger, traditional nativity scenes in churches prohibited.
