Attempted Assassination Of Gerald Ford In Sacramento
On September5, 1975, Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, a member of the Manson Family cult, attempted to assassinate United States president Gerald Ford in Sacramento, California. She wanted to make a statement to people who refused to halt environmental pollution and its effects on air, trees, water, and animals (ATWA). Although Fromme stood a little more than an arm's length from Ford that Friday morning and pointed an M1911 pistol at him in the public grounds of the California State Capitol building, she had not chambered a round, the gun did not fire, and no one was injured. After the assassination attempt, Ford continued to walk to the California state house, where he met with Governor Jerry Brown. Barbara Hoyt (December 27, 1951 – December 3, 2017) was a member of the " Manson Family", led by Charles Manson. Hoyt was a witness in District Attorney Vincent Bugliosi's prosecution of Manson and his followers for the Tate-LaBianca murders, one of the highest-profile murder trials in history. Charles Manson
Charles Milles Manson (; November 12, 1934November 19, 2017) was an American criminal and musician who led the Manson Family, a cult based in California, in the late 1960s. Some of the members committed a series of nine murders at four locations in July and August 1969. George Spahn
George Christian Spahn (February 11, 1889 – September 22, 1974) was an American rancher who once owned the Spahn Ranch near Chatsworth, Los Angeles. Spahn rented the ranch to the movie industry to film Westerns, and later allowed Charles Manson and his "Family" of followers to live at the site. Early life Spahn grew up in the greater Philadelphia area. His father died in a work accident when he was just two years old. Spahn had, at times, a tense relationship with his stepfather, who often exhibited vicious and violent behavior when he was drunk. Spahn left school after the third grade and started to work as a milkman. When he was 16, Spahn started an apprenticeship with a carpenter, but did not stay in this profession and eventually returned to the milk delivery business.
