The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET), is a professional association located in Alberta, Canada. The organization represents applied science and engineering technology professionals in industry, educational institutions, the public and the government. ASET also evaluates the qualifications of individuals who voluntarily apply for certification and issues professional credentials accordingly. It also delivers a number of benefits and services to its members and their employers. History On August 1, 1963, with the sponsorship of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta ( APEGGA), the Alberta Society of Engineering Technicians was incorporated. The Sydney Accord is an international mutual recognition agreement for qualifications in the fields of engineering technology. Definition and background The Sydney Accord is an agreement between the bodies responsible for accrediting engineering technologist qualification programs in each of the signatory countries. It recognizes the substantial equivalency of programs accredited by those bodies, and recommends that graduates of accredited programs in any of the signatory countries be recognized by the other countries as having met the academic requirements for entry to the practice of engineering technologist. Dublin Accord
The Dublin Accord is an agreement for the international recognition of ''Engineering Technician'' qualifications. In May 2002, the national engineering organisations of Ireland, the United Kingdom, South Africa and Canada signed an agreement mutually recognising the qualifications which underpin the granting of Engineering Technician titles in the four countries. Technology Professionals Canada (TPC) is an organization in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, that advocates for the profession of technicians and technologists within the provinces of their member organizations. History It was founded in 2010 as a partnership between associations of technology professions in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. APEGGA
The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) is an engineering society that regulates the practices of professional engineering and geoscience in Alberta. APEGA receives its mandate from the Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act(EGP Act) which includes registering, setting practice standards, and determining disciplinary actions, when necessary, for its members. APEGA is also associated with Engineers Canada, Geoscientists Canada, and other technical societies. Governance APEGA's mission, vision, and guiding principles are set by an elected Council and Executive Committee and are carried out by staff members, all of whom abide by the EGP Act.
