Arul Chinnaiyan
Arul M. Chinnaiyan is a Hicks Endowed Professor of Pathology and professor of pathology and urology at the University of Michigan Medical School. He is also a Howard Hughes medical Investigator (HHMI) at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Arul Chinnaiyan received both PhD and MD degrees at the University of Michigan Medical School in 1999. He is a cancer researcher and the recipient of the 28th annual American Association for Cancer Research Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cancer Research at the annual meeting of the AACR in April 2008 in San Diego. He was also the leader of a group of scientists who received the inaugural 2007 American Association for Cancer Research "Team Science" Award for their discovery of gene fusions in prostate cancer. Azrul Kanda Kandasamy or better known as his birth name, Arul Kanda is the former president and chief executive officer of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), a company owned by Minister of Finance (Incorporated) (Malaysia), a corporate body of the Ministry of Finance. He was appointed as the CEO to replace Mohd Hazem Abdul Rahman who resigned on 5 January 2015. 1MDB has been under heavy scrutiny for its suspicious money transactions and evidences pointing to money laundering activities. In a lawsuit filed by United States Department of Justice (DOJ), it is stated that at least USD$7.5 billion has been stolen from Malaysia's 1MDB state-owned fund. Further investigations by Malaysian authorities lead to Kanda's dismissal from 1MDB in June 2018. Subsequently, on 12 December 2019, he was jointly charged with Najib Razak for audit tampering. Arul Pragasam
Arulappu Richard Arulpragasam (13 April 1948 – 3 December 2019); also known by the names Arular and A. R. Arulpragasam) was a Tamil activist and former revolutionary from Jaffna who had a part in forming the group Eelam Revolutionary Organisation of Students (EROS) in January 1975 in Wandsworth, England during the Tamil independence movements to secure an independent Tamil Eelam. He later left the conflict, after work as an independent peace negotiator between the two sides of the civil war. At the time of his death, he headed the Global Sustainability Initiative in the United Kingdom. He was also the father of the musician M.I.A. and the jewellery designer Kali Arulpragasam. Arul Shankar is an Indian mathematician at the University of Toronto specialising in number theory; more specifically, arithmetic statistics. He received his B.Sc. (honours) in mathematics and computer science from Chennai Mathematical Institute in 2007. He obtained his PhD from Princeton University in 2012 under Manjul Bhargava. Shankar is known for his work, with Bhargava, establishing unconditionally that the average rank of elliptic curves is bounded when ordered by naive height by 1.5 and 1.17 respectively. Arul Vivasvan Suppiah (born 30 August 1983) is a former world record breaking Malaysian cricketer. As a right-handed batsman and left-arm orthodox spin bowler, he played for the Malaysia national cricket team and county cricket in England for Somerset County Cricket Club. His career highs involve holding a world record for best Twenty20 bowling figures and first-class innings of 156 against India, in a match before the Test series against England.
