Isle Of Arran
The Isle of Arran (; sco, Isle o Arran; gd, Eilean Arainn) or simply Arran is an island off the west coast of Scotland. It is the largest island in the Firth of Clyde and the seventh-largest Scottish island, at . Historically part of Buteshire, it is in the unitary council area of North Ayrshire. In the 2011 census it had a resident population of 4,629. Though culturally and physically similar to the Hebrides, it is separated from them by the Kintyre peninsula. Len Arran
Len Arran (born Leonard Arran, 7 June 1961, Thornaby-on-Tees, England) is an English composer of film scores, and songwriter for Skunk Anansie and solo artist Deborah Dyer (Skin). He began his career as a guitarist in London in the late 1980s. In 1991, he developed a writing partnership with Dyer, leading to the formation of rock band Skunk Anansie. ''NightCaster: Defeat the Darkness'' is a third-person, single-player, action-adventure game for the Xbox, developed by VR1 Entertainment and published by Microsoft. Players take the role of Arran, a novice wizard whose magical power grows as he ages throughout his quest to collect spells and rid the world of eternal night. Arran Distillery
Arran distillery is a whisky distillery in Lochranza, Scotland, Isle of Arran. In 1994 Arran Distillers was founded by Harold Currie, former director of Chivas and a D-Day veteran, with the intention of building a distillery on Arran. During the construction of the distillery, a pair of golden eagles built their nest on a cliff near the distillery; since golden eagles are a protected species, construction of the distillery was temporarily halted. The distillery, funded by private investors and the sale of bonds, opened in 1995. There used to be about fifty distilleries on the island, but most of them were "moonlight" or illegal distilleries. Arran (Catalan for "level with") is the youth organization of the Catalan Pro-Independence Left, result of the merger between Maulets and CAJEI and local groups (such as the Youth Assemblies of Terrassa, Sant Sadurní or Horta, a process which began in 2008 and concluded in 2012. The organization announced its creation on Saturday 14 July 2012 in Berga, during the ''Rebrot'' Catalan youth gathering, which celebrated its eleventh edition, culminating in events at the Pi de les Tres Branques annual gathering. From the second half of the 19th century these carpets began to be produced in Jabrayil weaving factories under the name "Ərran", referring to the Ərran region. It is known that in the 9th-10th centuries Barda was the center of this region. More recently, Arran carpets have been called "Jabrail" because they are widely produced in Jabrayil carpet weaving factories. Characteristics The composition of the decorative pattern in the middle section of the Aran carpets consists of tasseled buta. These buta patterns - the main elements - are rarely but specifically placed in the middle field according to paisley-patterned carpets. Buta contains a description of birds and different shapes. Árran
Árran is the Lule Sámi center in the village of Drag in Hamarøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The center was established in 1994 to foster and promote the Lule Sámi language and culture. It does this by arranging on-site and video conference courses in Lule Sámi, publishing books, and doing research. The center has a museum, a souvenir shop, and a Lule Sámi day-care center on its premises. One of the major projects that it was involved with was the Lule Sámi on-line coursSámastaand soon it will be publishing a Norwegian–Lule Sámi dictionary. MV ''Isle of Arran'' ( gd, Eilean Arainn) is a drive-through ferry owned by Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited and operated on the west coast of Scotland by Caledonian MacBrayne. Entering service in 1984, she served on the Arran service for nine years before being moved to Kennacraig. She returned to her original route in 2012, supplementing in summer and becoming a relief vessel in winter. In 2013, she started a new pilot route from Ardrossan to Campbeltown, which became a permanent fixture in 2015. MV ''Arran'' was a pioneering Firth of Clyde vehicle ferry introduced by Caledonian Steam Packet Company in 1953. She spent fifteen years on the Upper Clyde crossings, followed by five years at Islay. Initially hoist-loading, via side ramps, these were replaced by a stern ramp in 1973. During her final years with CalMac, she relieved across the network. Several unsuccessful attempts were made to turn her into a floating restaurant, before she was scrapped in 1993. ''Arran'' was launched at Calcutta in 1799. In 1800 she sailed to Britain for the British East India Company (EIC). On her return voyage she suffered a major outbreak of illness while between England and the Cape. She then traded between England and India and around India until she was lost in June 1809 while sailing to Basra from Bengal. Career ''Arran'' was a "country ship" that performed one voyage for the EIC, sailing from Bengal to London. Captain John Barker sailed from Calcutta on 28 January 1800, bound for London. ''Arran'' was at Kedgeree on 11 March. She reached St Helena on 19 June, and arrived at Deptford on 17 September. There was a disturbance aboard ''Arran'' on 27 July among the lascars, but as of December 2022, details are only accessible via archival research.
