Argis
Argis is a commune in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of eastern France. Geography Argis is in the mountains of the southern Jura in the mountains of Bugey in the valley of the Albarine between Tenay and Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey. Altitude varies from 315 metres in the valley to 800 metres on the slopes of the valley. The commune is some 10 km east of Amberieu-en-Bugey and 10 km south-west of Hauteville-Lompnes. It can be accessed on the D1504 road from Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey in the north-west passing through the northern border of the commune then south to the village and continuing south to Tenay. The D104 road also goes from the village over a tortuous mountain route to Arandas in the south-west. There are also many small mountain roads in the commune. The railway line from Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey to Tenay also passes through the commune parallel to the D1504 road. There is no station in the commune with the nearest station being the one ne ...

''Antoine-Gaspard Boucher d'Argis'' (3 April 1708 in Lyon – 25 January 1791 in Paris) was a French lawyer. Advisor to the Supreme Council of Dombes in 1753 then at the Châtelet in Paris Boucher d'Argis wrote a number of legal treatises and published the ''Règles pour former un avocat'' (Rules of form of a lawyer) of Pierre Biarnoy de Merville in a "re-touched" edition with the ''Histoire abrégée de l'ordre des avocats''. Beginning in 1742 he began to publish new editions of the ''Recueil, par ordre alphabétique, des principales questions de droit'' (Collection, in alphabetical order, of the principal questions of law) by Barthélemy-Joseph Bretonnier (1656–1727).(Paris, P. Arandas, Ain
Arandas is a commune in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of eastern France. Geography Arandas is some 50 km north-west of Aix-les-Bains and 10 km south-west of Hauteville-Lompnes. It can be accessed by the D104 from Argis in the north running south to the village then continuing south as the D104A through the heart of the commune to join the D32 south of the commune. The D104 itself reverses direction in the village and heads north-west to join the D73. The commune has some farmland but is heavily forested and mountainous. There are no villages or hamlets in the commune other than Arandas. The ''Bossiere'' stream rises near the village and flows west to join the ''Galine'' river. The ''Ruisseau de Grinand'' also rises in the north of the commune, forming part of the northern boundary before flowing into the Galine.
