Archangel (Soulfly Album)
'' Archangel ''is the tenth studio album by American heavy metal band Soulfly. It was released on August 14, 2015, through Nuclear Blast Entertainment. It is the band's shortest album to date, running thirty-six and a half minutes. It is the band's last album to feature bassist Tony Campos, who left the band shortly after recording to join Fear Factory. With a peak position of number 130 on the ''Billboard'' 200, it is Soulfly's second-lowest charting album to date (behind 2005's '' Dark Ages'', which peaked at number 155). The statistic is common with the decreasing number of album sales worldwide in all genres of music, as digital releases have taken over the market. The ensuing "We Sold Our Souls To Metal" Tour to promote Archangel's release featured Soulfly playing as many as 7 songs from the album live each night, which is the first time since the Primitive Tour that the band has played the majority of a new album live. Soulfly
Soulfly is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1997, and later based out of Phoenix, Arizona. Soulfly is led by former Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera, who formed the band after he left the Brazilian group in 1996. To date the band has released twelve studio albums, one tour EP, twenty-three singles, one video album, and twelve music videos. Their debut album, '' Soulfly'', was released on April 21, 1998, while their most recent album, ''Totem'', was released on August 5, 2022 Soulfly incorporates many styles of metal with Brazilian tribal and world music, much like Cavalera's previous band Sepultura. Max Cavalera
Massimiliano Antonio "Max" Cavalera (; born August 4, 1969) is a Brazilian musician. He co-founded the heavy metal band Sepultura in 1984 with his brother Igor Cavalera, and was the band's lead singer and rhythm guitarist until his departure in 1996. He currently plays in the heavy metal bands Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy and Killer Be Killed. Cavalera was also involved in a short-lived side project called Nailbomb. Life and career Max Cavalera's father, Graziano Cavalera, was an employee of the Italian Consulate in Belo Horizonte. He died at 41 years of age, when Max was nine years old. Cavalera's family was in a state of financial crisis and family turbulence when he formed Sepultura with his younger brother Igor. In the early 1990s, he relocated to Phoenix, Arizona. ''Omen'' is the seventh studio album by American heavy metal band Soulfly. It was recorded in November 2009 and was released first in Japan on May 18, 2010, and on May 25, 2010, in other parts of the world. It was released on May 24, 2010, in parts of Europe. It is the last album to feature bassist Bobby Burns and drummer Joe Nunez who were replaced by Asesino frontman, Tony Campos and former Borknagar drummer David Kinkade in mid-2011. "Tribe" is the fourth single by heavy metal band Soulfly, released in January 1999. It is played as the ninth track of the eponymous debut album ''Soulfly'', after " Bleed" and before "Bumba". "Tribe" is the fourth and last single of the album. As with every other Soulfly songs with vocals, the lyrics were written by Max Cavalera. Lyrics and music The first section of lyrics deal about Zumbi in Portuguese and then tribe in relation to life and god. The last section lists different tribes in alphabetical order, including Aboriginal, Hopi, Māori, and Mohican. The first minute of this six-minute song plays a berimbau with a man singing a traditional song in Portuguese about Zumbi and his quilombo Palmares's resistance to the Portuguese. ''3'' is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Soulfly released in 2002 through Roadrunner Records. ''3'' has sold 195,000 copies as of March 11, 2008. Album information The album artwork features an Om (ॐ), a spiritual icon in Indian religions. The original title for the album was ''Downstroy'', after the opening track of the album. "Back to the Primitive" is a heavy metal song by Soulfly, released in 2000. The song, composed by Max Cavalera, is played as the first track of the second Soulfly album, '' Primitive''. Music and lyrics The song features simple downtuned riffs, plus tribal drumming and blabbering; it also plays berimbau to begin the song. "Bloodshed" is a Soulfly song, played as the first track of the Soulfly's '' Savages'' album. "Bloodshed" is the first Soulfly single released by the band's new label, Nuclear Blast (previously Roadrunner). This song premiered on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show on August 6, 2013, two days before single was officially released. Max Cavalera and his son Igor Cavalera Jr. wrote and sing this song together. Igor's punk vocals satisfied Max by explaining to Metal Exiles, "I needed a punk vocalist for the chorus and I was missing a punk vocalist to go with my vocals for the chorus. ''Refuse/Resist'' is Sepultura's fourth single, released in 1993. The title song, also included as a single off the album '' Chaos A.D.'', is one of the band's best-known songs and remains a concert staple to this day. A music video was filmed for the single which features the band playing live at a festival intercut with footage of rioting and general unrest. This video can be found on the VHS ''Third World Chaos'', which was later released on DVD as part of the ''Chaos'' DVD. Nicholas Bullen (sometimes called Nik Napalm; born 1968) is an English musician and a founding member of the grindcore band Napalm Death. Lody Kong
Lody Kong is an American sludge metal band from Phoenix, Arizona, formed in 2011. The band is known for being led by brothers Igor and Zyon Cavalera, both sons of former Sepultura and current Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera. The band has been inactive since 2018. History Lody Kong formed in 2011 after the split of metalcore quintet Mold Breaker, which included Zyon and Igor on drums and guitar, respectively. Recruiting local musicians John Bauer (lead guitar) and Shea "Shanks" Fahey (bass), Igor covered vocal duties and Lody Kong began writing material, adopting their name from their friend Cody Long.
