Arcado-Cypriot Greek
Arcadocypriot, or southern Achaean, was an ancient Greek dialect spoken in Arcadia in the central Peloponnese and in Cyprus. Its resemblance to Mycenaean Greek, as it is known from the Linear B corpus, suggests that Arcadocypriot is its descendant. In Cyprus the dialect was written using solely the Cypriot Syllabary. The most extensive surviving text of the dialect is the Idalion Tablet, a significant literary source on the vocabulary comes from the lexicon of 5th century AD grammarian Hesychius. History Proto-Arcadocypriot (around 1200 BC) is supposed to have been spoken by Achaeans in the Peloponnese before the arrival of Dorians, so it is also called southern Achaean. Pilão Arcado
Pilão Arcado is a municipality in the state of Bahia in the North-East region of Brazil. Pilão Arcado covers , and has a population of 35,175 with a population density of 3 inhabitants per square kilometer. Pilão Arcado was originally inhabited by indigenous people of the Mocoase and Acoroase ethnic groups. The first Portuguese inhabitants came from the Guerreiro e Bernardo family, both of Portuguese nobility. A chapel named Santo Antônio do Pilão Arcado and a parish of the same name were established in 1771. The municipality fell into violence between 1842 and 1848. War was declared between the families of Militão Plácido de França Antunes and Captain Bernardo José Guerreiro. The conflict ended on August 1, 1848 with the death of the final adult son of the Guerreiro family. Fighting between the families occurred in both Pilão Arcado and nearby Sento Sé. Hank Roberts
Hank Roberts (born March 24, 1954, Terre Haute, Indiana) is an American jazz cellist and vocalist. He plays the electric cello, and his style is a mixture of rock, jazz, avant-garde, folk, and classical influences. He emerged with the downtown New York City jazz scene of the 1980s and is associated with its post-modern tendencies. Background In the early 1980s, Roberts made a number of recordings for the defunct JMT label, was a featured member of the Bill Frisell Quartet, and was an important voice in many groups of saxophonist Tim Berne. Roberts also recorded three discs with the Arcado String Trio, an improvisational chamber group featuring Mark Feldman, violin, and Mark Dresser, double bass. In the early 1990s, Roberts left Frisell's group and stopped touring widely. He continued to release recordings, if sporadically, including with the progressive folk group Ti Ti Chickapea. Mark Dresser
Mark Dresser (born September 26, 1952) is an American double bass player and composer. Career Dresser was born in Los Angeles, California, United States. In the 1970s, he was a member of Black Music Infinity led by Stanley Crouch and performed with the San Diego Symphony. During the next decade he moved to New York City and became a member of the Anthony Braxton quartet with Marilyn Crispell and Gerry Hemingway. He composed for the Arcado String Trio and Tambastics and for the film, ''The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari''.
