The Apostolic Nunciature of the Holy See to Bangladesh is the diplomatic mission of the Holy See to Bangladesh, equivalent to an embassy. It is located at U.N. Road 2, Baridhara, Dhaka 1212. The position of Apostolic Nuncio is currently vacant. The Apostolic Nunciature to Bangladesh is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in Bangladesh, with the rank of ambassador. The nuncio serves both as the ambassador of the Pope (as head of state of Vatican City) to the President of Bangladesh, and as delegate and point-of-contact between the Catholic hierarchy in Bangladesh and the Pope (as head of the church). Baridhara
Baridhara ( bn, বারিধারা) is an upscale residential area in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is located on the east of and north east of Gulshan across Gulshan-Baridhara Lake. It has special zones designated for diplomats, and many of the city's foreign embassies and high commissions are situated here. There are mainly three areas diplomatic zone mainly in the south-west portion, general residential area in eastern portion and an adjacent DOHS area in north-east portion. Adriano Bernardini
Adriano Bernardini (born 13 August 1942) is an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who occupied positions in the diplomatic service of the Holy See from the 1970s until he retired in 2017. His first assignment as Apostolic Nuncio was to Bangladesh (1992–1995) and his last to Italy (2011–2017). He has been an archbishop since 1992. Biography On 31 March 1968, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Rome by Cardinal Egidio Cardinal Vagnozzi. He attended the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy to study diplomacy and earn a doctorate in canon law. His first assignment in the diplomatic service of the Holy See was in the Apostolic Nunciature to Pakistan, which also follows events in Afghanistan. Bangladesh–Holy See Relations
Bangladesh–Holy See relations are foreign relations between Bangladesh and the Holy See. Bangladesh has an ambassador accredited to the Holy See (Md. Abdul Hannan, as of December 2009), while the Holy See has a nunciature in the Baridhara Diplomatic Enclave in Dhaka. Apostolic Nunciature To Pakistan
The Apostolic Nunciature to Pakistan is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in Pakistan. It is a diplomatic post of the Holy See, whose representative is called the Apostolic Nuncio with the rank of an ambassador. The Nunciature was located in St. Anthony’s Parish (Karachi) in its Chancellery at old Clifton when the Vatican established diplomatic relations with Pakistan in 1950. When the capital of Pakistan was moved to Islamabad in 1965, the Nunciature was re-located to the Diplomatic Enclave in Islamabad. Following the partition of India and the formation of the independent nation of Pakistan in 1947, the Holy See established the Delegation to Pakistan on 15 July 1950 and named as first delegate James Cornelius van Miltenburg, Archbishop of Karachi. George Kocherry
George Kocherry (born 4 February 1945) is an Indian prelate of the Syro-Malabar Church who joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1978 and became an archbishop and nuncio in 2000. After serving as apostolic nuncio to Togo, Ghana, and Zimbabwe, he was the nuncio to Bangladesh from 2013 to 2022. Biography George Kocherry was born in Changanacherry, Kerala, on 4 February 1945, the eldest of fourteen children. He left India in 1967 to study philosophy and theology in Rome, where he obtained his doctorate in canon law. He was ordained a priest of the Archeparchy of Changanacherry on 26 June 1974. Paul Tschang In-Nam (born 30 October 1949) is a Korean prelate of the Catholic Church who has worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See since 1985, with the title of archbishop and the rank of apostolic nuncio since 2002. Edward Joseph Adams (born August 24, 1944) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who has served in the diplomatic service of the Holy See since 1976. He was the apostolic nuncio to Great Britain from 2017 to 2020 and held earlier postings in Greece, Asia, Africa and Central America. Piero Biggio (29 June 1937 – 18 April 2007) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Biography Piero Biggio was born on 29 June 1937 in Calasetta, Province of Carbonia-Iglesias, Sardinia, Italy. He was ordained a priest on 5 August 1962. In 1968, he obtained a Licentiate of Canon Law at the Pontifical Lateran University and then completed the two-year program at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy from 1968 to 1970.
