Apertura 2019 Liga MX Championship Stage
The Apertura 2019 Liga MX championship stage commonly known as ''Liguilla'' (mini league) was played from 27 November 2019 to 29 December 2019. Due to finalist Monterrey participating in the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup, the final was postponed to 29 December from 15 December. A total of eight teams competed in the championship stage to decide the champions of the Apertura 2019 Liga MX season. Both finalists qualified to the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League. Qualified teams The following 8 teams qualified for the championship stage. A total of eight teams competed in the championship stage to decide the champions of the Clausura 2019 Liga MX season. Both finalists qualified to the 2020 CONCACAF Champions League. Fernando Navarro Morán
Fernando Navarro Morán (born 18 April 1989) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Liga MX club Puebla. International career Navarro was named in Mexico's provisional squad for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup but was cut from the final roster. Ángel Israel Mena Delgado (born 21 January 1988) is an Ecuadorian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Liga MX club León and the Ecuador national team. Club career Emelec Mena had extended his contract until 2017 with Club Sport Emelec. He played in 129 games for the national championship and scored 25 goals, according to records of the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF). He debuted in the first division in 2007. José Juan "JJ" Macías Guzmán (born 22 September 1999) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a forward for Liga MX club Guadalajara. Club career Guadalajara In 2011, Macías joined C.D. Luis Ángel Mendoza Escamilla (born 3 February 1990), also known as El Quick, is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a winger. Club career Mendoza made his debut with Tigres UANL on February 18, 2010, against Santos Laguna, coming on as a substitute. Edison Michael Flores Peralta (born 14 May 1994), is a Peruvian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Liga MX club Atlas and the Peru national team. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Seed (sports)
A seed is a competitor or team in a sport or other tournament who is given a preliminary ranking for the purposes of the draw. Players/teams are "planted" into the bracket in a manner that is typically intended so that the best do not meet until later in the competition, usually based on regular season. The term was first used in tennis, and is based on the idea of laying out a tournament ladder by arranging slips of paper with the names of players on them the way seeds or seedlings are arranged in a garden: smaller plants up front, larger ones behind. Semi-finals
A single-elimination, knockout, or sudden death tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of each match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament. Each winner will play another in the next round, until the final match-up, whose winner becomes the tournament champion. Each match-up may be a single match or several, for example two-legged ties in European sports or best-of series in American pro sports.
