André Butzer
André Butzer (born in 1973 in Stuttgart), is a German painter. Biography Butzer was born in Stuttgart, West Germany and lives in Rangsdorf near Berlin. He makes semi-abstract paintings that feature cartoon-like characters and objects. Butzer is interested in the comic genre, whose ambivalence comes on the one hand from a childlike inflation of effect and on the other hand from an artificial lifelessness, set beyond morality. Butzer’s work has been called ''Science-Fiction-Expressionism'', he is influenced by James Ensor, Willem de Kooning, and Phillip Guston. In 1997, he helped to founAkademie Isotropin Hamburg. Butzer is represented by Galerie Max Hetzler in Berlin, with whom he has exhibited with since 2003, and Nino Mier Gallery in Los Angeles. Leiko Ikemura
is a Japanese-Swiss painter and sculptor. Biography Leiko Ikemura studied at Osaka University from 1970–1972. She then left Japan to study in Spain from 1973 to 1978 at the Academia de Bellas Artes in Granada and Seville. In 1979, Ikemura moved to Zurich to live and worked there for four years. The first of her mature paintings developed around 1980. The first solo exhibition in a public institution took place in 1983 at the "Bonn Kunstverein", in Bonn, Germany. That same year, she spent as an artist in residency in Nuremberg, ("Stadtzeichnerin" upon invitation of the city of Nuremberg). Andreas Hofer
Andreas Hofer (22 November 1767 – 20 February 1810) was a Tyrolean innkeeper and drover, who in 1809 became the leader of the Tyrolean Rebellion against the Napoleonic and Bavarian invasion during the War of the Fifth Coalition. He was subsequently captured and executed. Hofer is still today venerated as a folk hero, freedom fighter and Austrian patriot. His great-grandson Andreas Hofer was a member of the very important resistance group against Nazi Germany around the priest Heinrich Maier. Life Andreas Hofer was born 1767 in St. Leonhard in Passeier, in the Habsburg crown land of Tyrol. His father was an innkeeper of the ''Sandhof'' inn and Andreas followed in his footsteps when he inherited the establishment. Gregor Hildebrandt (born 1974 in Bad Homburg, West Germany) is a German contemporary artist who lives and works in Berlin, Germany Early life and education Gregor Hildebrandt graduated from Hochschule der Künste, Berlin in 2002, after he studied previously at the University of Mainz between 1995-1999. Hildebrandt was awarded a Studienstiftung scholarship between 1998-2002 and received a scholarship at the Deutsches Studienzentrum in Venice the following year, while still a student.
