Michael Powell
Michael Latham Powell (30 September 1905 – 19 February 1990) was an English filmmaker, celebrated for his partnership with Emeric Pressburger. Through their production company The Archers, they together wrote, produced and directed a series of classic British films, notably '' The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp'' (1943), ''A Canterbury Tale'' (1944), '' I Know Where I'm Going!'' Group Captain Claude Hilton Keith (21 October 1890 – 18 November 1946) was a British-Canadian aviator who was an early pioneer of air gunnery, playing a central role in the preparation of the Royal Air Force (RAF) for the Second World War. His work as Assistant Director of Armament Research and Development with responsibility for armament led to the establishment of the "Air Fighting Committee" in 1934. Susan Butler (American Writer)
Susan Butler (born 1932) is an American journalist and biographer, best known as a biographer of Amelia Earhart. Butler is a 1953 graduate of Bennington College, and went on to earn a master's degree in political science at Columbia University. Works Butler spent ten years working on her biography of Amelia Earhart. She was partially inspired to work on the life of Earhart because her (Butler's) own mother had been a pilot and a member of the Ninety-Nines. She visited pertinent locations such as Trepassey and Harbour Grace, and did much of her research at the Schlesinger Library, which housed the papers of Amelia Earhart. The original title of the book was to be ''Amelia Earhart, An Extraordinary Woman'', but Butler's husband put forward the idea of ''East to the Dawn''. Thomas Derrick was an English executioner ''c.'' 1608.A Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue, Francis Grose In English history, executioner was not a commonly chosen career path because of the risk of friends and families of the deceased knowing who the executioner was and where to find him. Executioners were sometimes coerced into the role. Derrick in particular had been convicted of rape but was pardoned by the Earl of Essex (clearing him of the death penalty) on the condition that he became an executioner at Tyburn.
