George James Tsunis
George James Tsunis (Greek: ''Γεώργιος Δημητρίου Τσούνης'') (born December 26, 1967) is an American lawyer and businessman who is the current United States Ambassador to Greece. He was nominated by President Joe Biden to serve in the role on October 8, 2021, confirmed by the United States Senate on March 10, 2022, and began serving on May 10, 2022. He was previously a nominee to be the U.S. ambassador to Norway by President Barack Obama, although his nomination ultimately failed. Biography Tsunis was born 1967 in Queens, New York, and is the son of first-generation immigrants from Greece, James and Eleni Tsunis. He graduated from Commack High School in Commack, New York in 1985. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in classic studies at New York University in 1989, and a Juris Doctor from St. John's University School of Law in 1992. Jacob Gould Schurman
Jacob Gould Schurman (May 2, 1854 – August 12, 1942) was a Canadian-born American educator and diplomat, who served as President of Cornell University and United States Ambassador to Germany. Early life Schurman was born at Freetown, Prince Edward Island on May 2, 1854 the son of Robert and Lydia Schurman. Schurman lived on his parents' farm as a child, then in 1867 took a job at a store near his home, which he held for two years. At the age of fifteen, Schurman entered the Summerside Grammar School on Prince Edward Island, and in 1870 he won a scholarship to study at Prince of Wales College for two years. After Prince of Wales College, he studied for a year and a half at Acadia College in Nova Scotia. In 1874 while a student at Acadia College in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, he won the Canadian Gilchrist scholarship to study at the University of London, from which he received a BA degree in 1877 and an MA in 1878. James Williams Riddleberger
James Williams Riddleberger (September 21, 1904 – October 17, 1982) was an American diplomat and career foreign service officer. During his career, he served three ambassadorships: in Austria, Yugoslavia and Greece. Biography Early life and education Riddleberger was born in Washington D.C. on September 21, 1904. He earned a B.A, from Randolph-Macon College in 1924 and MA in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 1926. He also attended American University from 1926–27 and was an assistant professor for international relations at Georgetown University from 1926 to 1929. Before joining the Foreign Service in 1929, he worked for the Library of Congress and Tariff Commission. George V
George V (George Frederick Ernest Albert; 3 June 1865 – 20 January 1936) was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, from 6 May 1910 until his death in 1936. Irwin Boyle Laughlin (April 26, 1871 – April 18, 1941) was an American diplomat. He served as Minister to Greece from 1924 to 1926 and Ambassador to Spain from 1929 to 1933.
