Allen Township is one of the twelve townships of Ottawa County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 3,591 people in the township, 3,297 of whom lived in the unincorporated portions of the township. Geography Located in the northwestern corner of the county, it borders the following townships and cities: * Jerusalem Township, Lucas County - north * Benton Township - east * Clay Township - south * Lake Township, Wood County - west * Northwood - northwest, south of Oregon *Oregon - northwest, north of Northwood The village of Clay Center is located in the southern part of the township, and the unincorporated communities of Curtice and Williston lie in the township's north. Allen Township, Union County, Ohio
Allen Township is one of the fourteen townships of Union County, Ohio, United States. The 2010 census found 2,263 people in the township. History Statewide, other Allen Townships are located in Darke, Hancock, and Ottawa Counties. Allen Township was organized on June 5, 1827. The town was named for Daniel Allen, one of the first settlers to the area. Allen was one of the first thirteen citizens to vote in the township, and was one of the first trustees. One of the township's first settlers was Angus Clark; his son Shepard became a leading farmer in the township, and the Clark family property is today a local landmark known as " The Fort". Clay Center, Ohio
Clay Center is a village in Ottawa County, Ohio, United States. The population was 262 at the 2020 census. History Clay Center derives its name from originally being the center of a larger Clay Township. When Ottawa County was founded in 1840, Allen Township did not exist, but was the northern half of a larger Clay Township. When the Townships split in 1888, Clay Center became a part of Allen Township. The town was founded by William Clark, a land speculator who believed a town in the center of the large township would be more likely to grow than the southern population center, Genoa. In 1883 Clay Township and Genoa discussed building a new Town Hall, and it was decided that Clay Township would help construct the building in downtown Genoa, instead of the geographic center in Clay Center. Oregon is a city in Lucas County, Ohio. It is a lakefront suburb of Toledo, located on Lake Erie, just east of the city. Oregon is known for its scenic lakefront, bike trails, and Maumee Bay State Park. The population was 19,950 at the 2020 Census. There are also two refineries and the Bayshore Power Plant within the city. History Oregon was once part of the Great Black Swamp. Northwood, Ohio
Northwood is a city and eastern suburb in Wood County, Ohio, United States, within the Toledo metropolitan area. The population was 5,265 at the 2010 census. History Northwood was originally Ross Township. It was the northernmost township in Wood County from its establishment on April 18, 1874 until December 1, 1962. Farms, gardens, orchards, and railroads covered the area located just south of east Toledo. In 1898 Edward Ford's glass factory was built along the Maumee River, which ultimately led to the incorporation of the village of Rossford in 1939 within the western portion of the township. Ross Township was then divided so that Rossford Township would serve as a barrier between Rossford and the remaining Ross Township. On December 1, 1962, Ross Township ceased to exist when it became incorporated as the city of Northwood, so aptly named because of its location at the top of Wood County.
