All India Institutes Of Medical Sciences
The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is a group of autonomous government public medical universities of higher education under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare , Government of India. These institutes have been declared by an Act of Parliament as Institutes of National Importance. AIIMS New Delhi, the forerunner institute, was established in 1956. Since then, 24 more institutes were announced. , nineteen institutes are operating and five more are expected to become operational until 2025. Proposals were made for six more AIIMS. History The first AIIMS was established in 1956 under the ''All India Institute of Medical Sciences Act, 1956''. All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Deoghar (AIIMS Deoghar) is a public medical school and hospital located in Deoghar, Jharkhand, India. It is also one of the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMSs) that started operation in 2019. The Institute operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) and also among the Institutes of National Importance in India. Dame Rajkumari Bibiji Amrit Kaur (''née'' Ahluwalia) DStJ (2 February 1887 – 6 February 1964) was an Indian activist and politician. Bidhan Chandra Roy
Bidhan Chandra Roy (1 July 1882 – 1 July 1962) was an Indian physician, educationist, and statesman who served as Chief Minister of West Bengal from 1948 until his death in 1962. Roy played a key role in the founding of several institutions and the cities Bidhannagar and Kalyani. In India, the National Doctors' Day is celebrated in his memory every year on the 1st of July. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour in 1961. Institute of National Importance (INI) is a status that may be conferred on a premier public higher education institution in India by an act of Parliament of India, an institution which "serves as a pivotal player in developing highly skilled personnel within the specified region of the country/state". All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rajkot (AIIMS Rajkot) is a public medical school and hospital based in Rajkot, Gujarat, India, and one of the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMSs). The first academic session of AIIMS Rajkot began on 21 December 2020. On 31 December 2020 Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the institute.
