Alexander White (Alabama Politician)
Alexander White (October 16, 1816 – December 13, 1893) was an American lawyer from Alabama, who represented Alabama in the U.S Congress as a Whig (1851–53), and as a Republican (1873–75). White was born in Franklin, Tennessee. He moved to Courtland, Alabama with his family. White went to the University of Tennessee. He then served in the United States Army during the Second Seminole War. He then move to Talladega, Alabama, studied law, and was admitted to the Alabama bar in 1837. He served in the United States House of Representatives from 1851 to 1853 and from 1873 to 1875. He served in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. He served in the Alabama Constitutional Convention of 1865 and then served in the Alabama House of Representatives in 1872. He served briefly as Chief Justice of the Utah Territorial Supreme Court in 1875.
