Ahmed Rushdi (politician)
Ahmed Rushdi (1924 – 4 July 2013) was an Egyptian lieutenant general and interior minister who was in office from July 1984 to 27 February 1986. Career Rushdi began his career in 1946, working in Egypt's security institutions. He served as the director of Cairo security from 1976 to 1978. Then he became the assistant minister of the interior in 1978. He was appointed interior minister in July 1984, replacing Hassan Abu Basha in the post. Shortly after Rushdi's appointment in November 1984, thousands of students at Cairo's Al Azhar University clashed with anti-riot police, demonstrating for academic reforms and the resignation of him. Ministry Of Interior (Egypt)
The Ministry of Interior in Egypt is one of the ministries in Egypt responsible for maintaining security and enforcing the law. The Ministry of Interior directs the Central Security Forces, around 410,000 in 2012; the National Police, around 500,000; and the Egyptian Homeland security, around 200,000 strong. The Egyptian Border Guard Corps were organised in border guard regiments totaling approximately 25,000 members. They are a lightly armed paramilitary force, mostly Bedouins, responsible for border surveillance, general peacekeeping, drug interdiction, and prevention of smuggling. During the late 1980s, the force was equipped with remote sensors and night-vision binoculars. High-speed motorboats are also in service. Kamal Hassan Ali
General Kamal Hassan Ali (; ; 18 September 1921 – 27 March 1993) was an Egyptian politician and military hero. Biography Aly was born in Cairo on 18 September 1921. He attended medical school, but did not finish it and joined military academy. He was commissioned as a combat engineering officer in 1942, and served as a sapper and pioneer commander with the British Army during World War II. He was involved in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War and as Engineer-in-Chief the Yom Kippur War. Between 1973 and 1975, he was commander of the Central Military Zone. He was head of the Egyptian Intelligence Service from 1975 to 1978. After that, he served as minister of defense and military production under president Anwar Sadat. Aly also played a role in peace negotiations between Egypt and Israel, resulting in a treaty in 1979. Hassan Abu Basha
Hassan Abu Basha (; 2 December 1922 – 18 September 2005) was a major general and one of the former ministers of interior of Egypt who was in office for two years from January 1982 to July 1984. Early life and education Abu Basha was born in Cairo on 2 December 1922. He graduated from the police academy in 1945. Career Abu Basha was a leading figure during the Nasser era. He was a member of the Arab Socialist Union from 1962 and became part of its secret unit, the Socialist Vanguard (Arabic: al-Tanzim al-Tali‘i), which was also called the Vanguard Organization, in 1963 when the unit was established. He served as deputy minister of Interior when Nabawi Ismail was in office under President Anwar Sadat. Zaki Badr
Zaki Badr (; 28 February 1926 – 2 April 1997) was an Egyptian major general and the former interior minister of Egypt who served in the post from 1986 to 1990 in the Sedki Cabinet. Badr had a confrontational approach during his term. Early life and education Badr was born in the Minya province of the southern Egypt on 28 February 1926. He graduated from the police academy in 1946. Career Badr began his career as a police officer in 1947. He served as the governor of Asyut in the Upper Egypt. He also served in the ministry of interior during the term of Nabawi Ismail and was in charge of the central region of Minya. Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general. The Al-Azhar University ( ; , , ) is a public university in Cairo, Egypt. Associated with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in Islamic Cairo, it is Egypt's oldest degree-granting university and is known as one of the most prestigious universities for Islamic learning.
