Sheikh Ahmad bin Mohammad bin Hasher Al Maktoum (أحمد بن محمد بن حشر آل مكتوم) (born 31 December 1963 in Dubai) is an United Arab Emirates, Emirati shooting sport, sports shooter who won the first ever Olympic medal for his country. Sport career At the 2004 Summer Olympics, he won the Shooting at the 2004 Summer Olympics – Men's double trap, double trap event and finished fourth in the Shooting at the 2004 Summer Olympics – Men's trap, trap event. At the 2005 ISSF World Cup, he won another gold medal in double trap. He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics, but did not reach the final in Shooting at the 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's trap, trap. Sheikh ( , , , , ''shuyūkh'' ) is an honorific title in the Arabic language, literally meaning "elder (administrative title), elder". It commonly designates a tribal chief or a Muslim ulama, scholar. For the 2005 ISSF World Cup in the fifteen Olympic shooting events, the World Cup Final was held in August 2005 in Munich, Germany for the rifle and pistol events, and in November 2005 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates for the shotgun events. Shooting At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's Double Trap
The men's double trap event at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place on August 12 at the Beijing Shooting Range Clay Target Field. Walton Eller, the gold medal winner in this event, broke two Olympic records for both the qualification and final rounds. The event consisted of two rounds: a qualifier and a final. In the qualifier, each shooter fired 3 sets of 50 shots in trap shooting. Shots were paired, with two targets being launched at a time. The top 6 shooters in the qualifying round moved on to the final round. There, they fired one additional round of 50. The total score from all 200 shots was used to determine final ranking. Double Trap
Double trap is a shotgun shooting sport, one of the ISSF shooting events. Participants use a shotgun to attempt to break a clay disk flung away from the shooter at high speed. The layout of double trap shooting is similar to that of trap shooting. The shooter stands 16 yards behind the house that releases the targets. Two targets are released simultaneously from the house. They follow set paths, usually 35 degrees to left and right of straightaway. The shooter can take one shot at each target. History In international Double Trap competitions, the course of fire is 75 doubles for both men and women. The men's event involves a 25-double final for the top six competitors. Peter Robert Russell Wilson MBE (born 15 September 1986), is a retired English sport shooter who specialises in the double trap. He is the current world record holder for the event, having scored 198 out of 200 at a World Cup event in Arizona during 2012. A member of the British team for the 2012 Summer Olympics, he was the youngest competitor in the men's double trap event, where he won the gold medal.
