Aburi Girls' Senior High School
Aburi Girls' Senior High School, formerly Aburi Girls' Secondary School, also known as ABUGISS, is a Presbyterian senior high boarding school for girls located south of Aburi in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The brother school of Aburi Girls is Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School, known as "PRESEC". History Aburi Girls Senior High School was formally established as a secondary school for girls in 1946 with only seven students;. However, its origin dates as far back as 1852, when the Basel Missionaries opened a school at primary level for girls at their mission station inside the town. The primary school continued until its takeover by the Scottish Mission during the World War I. The Eastern Region is located in south Ghana and is one of the sixteen administrative regions of Ghana. Akuapim-Mampong
Akuapim-Mampong is a town in the Akuapim North district of the Eastern Region of Ghana. It shares boundaries with Mamfe .It is famous for being the first place cocoa was planted in Ghana by Tetteh Quarshie History A 1772 Dutch report included the name Mampo (Mampong) in their records. This indicates that Mampong had been founded before 1772. The name Mampong might have been taken from the Shai village, Mankpon. Another tradition indicated that early settlers, after defeating an invading Asante army moved from an old settlement to a new one – the Damti shrine neighborhood. Veronica Bucket
The Veronica bucket is a mechanism for hand washing originating in Ghana which consists of a bucket of water with a tap fixed at the bottom, mounted at hand height, and a bowl at the bottom to collect waste water. The Veronica bucket was developed by Veronica Bekoe. The Veronica bucket serves as a simple way to encourage proper hand washing using flowing water. Bekoe in an interview stated that the bucket was originally made to help her and her colleagues wash their hands under running water after each lab session. She said, "We are used to washing hands in a bowl with others washing in the same water, which will do more harm than good." These colleagues were contaminating their hands rather than decontaminating them.
