Aa Gale Lag Jaa (1973 Film)
''Aa Gale Lag Jaa'' () is a 1973 Hindi romantic film directed by Manmohan Desai, based on a story by Smt. Jeevanprabha Desai. It stars Shashi Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore and Shatrughan Sinha. The film became a box office hit. Sushma Shreshta, Poornima received a Filmfare nomination as Best Female Playback Singer for the song "Tera Mujhse Hai." Her nomination is the only Filmfare nomination for the film. ''Aa Gale Lag Jaa'' is noted for its wonderful hit songs which had music by R.D. Burman with lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi. The film was remade in Telugu as ''Manchi Manushulu'', in Tamil as ''Uthaman (1976 film), Uthaman'' and in Persian as ''Ranande-ye-ejbari''. Manmohan Desai
Manmohan Desai (26 February 1937 – 1 March 1994) was an Indian film producer and director. He was one of the most successful filmmaker of the 70s and 80s. Desai is now considered one of most influential film director of Bollywood and a pioneer of making masala film. Family background Manmohan Desai was of Gujarati ancestry. His father, Kikubhai Desai, was an Indian film producer and owner of Paramount Studios (later Filmalaya) from 1931 to 1941. His productions, mainly stunt films, included ''Circus Queen'', ''Golden Gang'', and ''Sheikh Challi''. Manmohan Desai's elder brother, Subhash Desai, became a producer in the 1950s and gave Manmohan his first break in the Hindi film '' Chhalia'' (1960). Gajanan Jagirdar
Gajanan Jagirdar (2 April 1907 – 13 August 1988) was a veteran Indian film director, screenwriter and actor. He worked in Hindi Cinema, also called Bollywood, as well as Marathi cinema. The period of 1942 to 1947, saw his rise as a film director with Prabhat Films. He was appointed as the first director (then principal) of thFilm and Television Institute of India (FTII)in 1960 which was known as ''Film Institute of India'' then. Jagirdar served as the director of the FTII for just over a year, from 1961 to 1962. He was associated with the Prabhat Film Company three decades before his FTII role, when the campus was the base of the Prabhat. He became a well-known pedagogue applying the acting theories of Stanislavsky to the prevailing local conditions. Poornima Shrestha (born 6 September 1960 as Sushma Shrestha), is an Indian playback singer. Starting as a child singer, she later reinvented into a leading playback singer in Bollywood during the 1990s. She started her career as a child singer in '' Andaz'' (1971) under music director duo Shankar Jaikishan for the hit song "Hai Na Bolo Bolo" alongside Mohammed Rafi and Suman Kalyanpur. Kishore Kumar (born as Abhas Kumar Ganguly (); 4 August 1929 – 13 October 1987) was an Indian playback singer and actor. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest, most influential and dynamic singers in the history of Indian music. He was one of the most popular singers in the Indian subcontinent, notable for his yodeling and ability to sing songs in different voices. Horace Ward Martin Tavares Silver (September 2, 1928 – June 18, 2014) was an American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger, particularly in the hard bop style that he helped pioneer in the 1950s. After playing tenor saxophone and piano at school in Connecticut, Silver got his break on piano when his trio was recruited by Stan Getz in 1950. ''Song for My Father'' is a 1965 album by the Horace Silver Quintet, released on the Blue Note label in 1965. The album was inspired by a trip that Silver had made to Brazil. The cover artwork features a photograph of Silver's father, John Tavares Silver, to whom the title composition was dedicated. "My mother was of Irish and Negro descent, my father of Portuguese origin," Silver recalls in the liner notes: "He was born on the island of Maio, one of the Cape Verde Islands." Abdul Hayee (8 March 1921 – 25 October 1980), popularly known by his pen name (takhallus) Sahir Ludhianvi, was an Indian poet and film song lyricist who wrote primarily in Urdu in addition to Hindi.
