''A Sunday in September'' ( sv, En söndag i september) is a 1963 Swedish drama film directed by Jörn Donner. It is the first feature-length film directed by Donner. The film follows a man named Stig (played by Thommy Berggren) and a woman named Birgitta (played by Harriet Andersson) through their short-lived marriage. Harriet Andersson was widely praised by critics for her performance. Jörn Donner
Jörn Johan Donner (5 February 1933 – 30 January 2020) was a Finnish writer, film director, actor, producer, politician and founder of Finnish Film Archive. Biography Born into the Donner family of German descent, Jörn Donner was the son of the linguist Kai Donner and the grandson of linguist and politician Otto Donner. He lived and worked for long periods in Sweden, and served as director of the Swedish Film Institute. In 1979, he was a member of the jury at the 29th Berlin International Film Festival. Internationally Jörn Donner was best known as the producer of Ingmar Bergman's film '' Fanny and Alexander'' (, 1982). In 1984 the movie won a total of four Academy Awards including the award for best foreign language film, making him to date the only Finn to receive an Oscar. Harriet Andersson
Harriet Andersson (born 14 February 1932) is a Swedish actress, best known outside Sweden for being part of director Ingmar Bergman's stock company. She often plays impulsive, working class characters. Film actress Harriet Andersson began her acting career as a 15-year-old student at Calle Flygare stage school. She joined director Ingmar Bergman for several stage productions at Malmö stadsteater between 1953 and 1956. In a 2008 interview with Mick LaSalle of the ''San Francisco Chronicle'', Andersson debunked a rumor that she was discovered by Bergman while working as an elevator operator: "In an elevator! Thommy Berggren, né Tommy William Berggren (born 12 August 1937) is a Swedish actor. He is known for having starred in several films directed by Bo Widerberg, and was often considered one of the foremost Swedish film and theatre actors from the early 1960s to the mid-2000s when he retired. He starred in the Oscar nominated ''Raven's End'' (1963), directed by Widerberg. He also starred in the 1992 ''Sunday's Children'', which was directed by Daniel Bergman and written by Ingmar Bergman. Bo Nilsson (1 May 1937 – 25 June 2018) was a Swedish composer and lyricist. Career Bo Nilsson was born in Skellefteå, and first drew notice as a composer at the age of 18 when his ''Zwei Stücke'' (Two Pieces) for flute, bass clarinet, percussion, and piano were performed in a 1956 West German Radio (WDR) “Musik der Zeit” concert in Cologne. He had taught himself composition by listening to the radio, having previously had only basic training from a local music teacher and some experience as a jazz pianist.
