''A Midsummer Night's Dream'' is a two-act ballet choreographed by George Balanchine to A Midsummer Night's Dream (Mendelssohn), Felix Mendelssohn's music to A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare's play of the same name. History ''A Midsummer Night's Dream'', Balanchine's first completely original full-length ballet, premiered at New York City Ballet on 17 January 1962, with Edward Villella in the role of Oberon, Melissa Hayden (dancer), Melissa Hayden in the role of Titania (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Titania, and Arthur Mitchell (dancer), Arthur Mitchell in the role of Puck. Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB) is a ballet company based in Seattle, Washington, in the United States. It is said to have the highest per capita attendance in the United States, with 11,000 subscribers in 2004. Conrad Ludlow
Conrad Ludlow is a former principal dancer with New York City Ballet under George Balanchine. He also danced at San Francisco Ballet and founded and directed Ballet Oklahoma (now Oklahoma City Ballet). He is currently a professor at the University of Utah's ballet department. Ib Andersen (born 14 December 1954) is a Danish ballet dancer, choreographer, and painter. Biography Early days Born in Copenhagen, Andersen was first exposed to dance through ballroom dancing. At age 7, he was accepted into the Royal Danish Ballet School, where he studied with Kirsten Ralov, Hans Brenaa, Flemming Flindt, and Vera Volkova. Maria Calegari
Maria Calegari (born March 30, 1957) is an American ballet dancer, teacher and répétiteur. She joined the New York City Ballet in 1974 and became a principal dancer in 1983. She left the company in 1994, then occasionally performed until 2004. She also teaches ballet and began working as a répétiteur for the Balanchine Trust and Robbins Rights Trust in 1996 and 2003 respectively. Hugo Marchand (born ) is a French ballet dancer. He joined the Paris Opera Ballet in 2011 and was named '' étoile'' in 2017, at age 23. Early life Marchand was born in Nantes.
