Azizur Rahman (poet)
Azizur Rahman (18 January 1917 – 12 September 1978) was a Bangladeshi poet and lyricist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak posthumously by the People's Republic of Bangladesh in 1979 for his outstanding contribution in Bengali literature. Early life Rahman was born on 18 January 1917 in the village of Haripur in Kushtia District of the then East Bengal under the British Raj (now Bangladesh) to a Zamindar, Zamindar family. He dropped out of school at his young age and began composing songs for the stage performance of Jatra (theatre), Jatra. Career Rahman joined Dhaka Radio Station (now Bangladesh Betar) as a staff artiste in 1954 and composed a large number Patriotic and Islamic songs for the radio. He served as an editor of juvenile monthly Alapani and also served as the literary-editor of daily Paygam from 1964 to 1970. Azizur Rahman Mallick (December 31, 1918 – February 4, 1997) was a Bangladeshi historian and educationist. Early life and education Azizur Rahman Mallick was born in his ancestral village home in Rajapur, Dhamrai in Dhaka district in the then erstwhile Bengal Province of British India on December 31 1918 to Ismail Mallick who was from a ''Zamindar'' family of the region. His great-grandfather Mallick Khan had migrated to Bengal from Afghanistan and had established himself as a ''Zamindar'' alongside his brother. He spent his early life in Rangoon, Burma. He and his family returned to Dhaka when he was at seventh grade. He passed SSC from Manikganj Model High School in 1934 and HSC from Dhaka College in 1936. Shah Azizur Rahman (; 23 November 1925 – 1 September 1989) was a Bangladeshi politician who served as the prime minister of Bangladesh. However, he was the subject of considerable controversy for his collaboration with the Pakistan Army against the struggle for the independence of Bangladesh. Azizur Rahman (26 September 1943 – 18 August 2020) was a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a 2-term Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Moulvibazar-3 constituency. He received the 2020 Independence Day Award by the government of Bangladesh. He was Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League. Aziz-ur-Rehman (born 31 March 1966) is a former Pakistani cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1983 to 1993. A left-arm slow bowler, Aziz-ur-Rehman made his first-class debut in the 1983-84 season. In the first match of the 1984-85 season, competing in the Patron's Trophy, he took 7 for 45 for Sargodha in the second innings against Faisalabad to give Sargodha victory by 142 runs. In the next match a few days later against Gujranwala he took 6 for 70 and 5 for 74 in a victory by 19 runs. With 34 wickets at 15.35, he was the leading wicket-taker in the competition that season. He took his best match figures, and established the Sargodha record, in 1989-90 against Karachi Whites, with 13 for 78 (7 for 47 and 6 for 31).
