The athletics (sport), athletics competitions at the 2013 Mediterranean Games in Mersin took place between 26 June and 29 June at the Nevin Yanıt Athletics Complex while half marathons were held at the Adnan Menderes Boulevard. Athletes competed in 43 events and 1 paralympic event. Men's 20 km walk, men's decathlon, women's shot put and women's 1500m T54 were cancelled. Mersin () is a large city and port on the Mediterranean Sea, Mediterranean coast of Mediterranean Region, Turkey, southern Turkey. It is the provincial capital of the Mersin Province (formerly İçel). Emir Bekrić ( sr-cyr, Емир Бекрић, born 14 March 1991) is a former Serbian hurdler. He specialises and holds the Serbian national record for the 400 metres hurdles. He is coached by Mirjana Stojanović. In 2013, Bekrić became the first male track and field athlete from Serbia to win a medal at the IAAF Outdoor World Championships. In the same year he won the award European athletics rising star, as well as golden badge for Serbian athlete of the year. Aziz Lahbabi (born 3 February 1991, in Khenifra) is a Moroccan long-distance runner. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed in the Men's 5000 metres, finishing 31st overall in Round 1, failing to qualify for the final.
