Assassination Of Marwan Issa
On 10 March 2024, Marwan Issa, the deputy commander of Hamas' military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, was killed by an Israeli airstrike as part of the Gaza war. Israel announced the targeting of an underground facility in Nuseirat in the central Gaza Strip, apparently used by Issa, airing footage of the strike and noting that the results were still being analyzed. Five Palestinians were reportedly killed in the bombing. Hamas did not respond until it privately confirmed Issa's death on 17 March 2024. Hamas officially confirmed his death on 19 January 2025. Nuseirat Refugee Camp
Nuseirat Camp () is a Palestinian refugee camp located in the middle of the Gaza Strip, five kilometers north-east of Deir al-Balah. The refugee camp is in the Deir al-Balah Governorate, Gaza Strip. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the refugee camp had a population of 31,747 and the surrounding Nuseirat municipality had a population of 54,851 in 2017. The camp was established after the 1948 Palestinian expulsion during the 1948 Palestine war.
