Art, Science And Peace Prize
The “Art, Science and Peace Prize” is awarded every three years. It is given to artists and scientists who have worked for peace and the welfare of society and the world. The Prize is accompanied by a sum of money that can vary in each edition. The Prize is awarded by a jury appointed by the International Non-Profit Organization “Man Center” in collaboration with the “World Interreligious Center.” Since its foundation, Pier Franco Marcenaro has been the Chairman of the Jury. Fernanda Pivano
Fernanda Pivano (18 July 1917 – 18 August 2009) was an Italian writer, journalist, translator and critic. Early life Pivano was born in Genoa in 1917. When she was a teenager she moved with her family to Turin where she attended the Massimo D'Azeglio Lyceum. There she met Cesare Pavese, who introduced her and her classmate Primo Levi to American literature. In 1941 she received a ''laurea'' () with a thesis on Herman Melville's ''Moby-Dick'', which earned her a prize from the Center for American Studies in Rome. Spoon River In 1943 she obtained a second degree in philosophy. In the same year she completed her first translation, the Italian edition of the '' Spoon River Anthology'' by Edgar Lee Masters for Einaudi. Career In 1948, Pivano met Ernest Hemingway. Franco Zeffirelli
Gian Franco Corsi Zeffirelli (12 February 1923 – 15 June 2019), was an Italian stage and film director, producer, production designer and politician. He was one of the most significant opera and theatre directors of the post-World War II era, gaining both acclaim and notoriety for his lavish stagings of classical works, as well as his film adaptations of the same. Umberto Veronesi (; 28 November 1925 – 8 November 2016) was an Italian oncologist, physician, scientist and politician, internationally known for his contributions on prevention and treatment of breast cancer throughout a career spanning over fifty years. Early life and education Veronesi was born in Milan. He obtained his degree in medicine from the University of Milan in 1952, and dedicated his professional life to the study and treatment of cancer. Scientific career After spending brief periods in England and France, he joined the Italian Cancer Institute in Milan as a volunteer. Veronesi challenged the dominant paradigm among surgeons that cancer could only be treated with aggressive surgery. Andrea Bocelli
Andrea Bocelli (; born 22 September 1958) is an Italian tenor and multi-instrumentalist. Roberto Remigio Benigni (; born 27 October 1952) is an Italian actor, comedian, screenwriter and director.
