Arrival (Journey Album)
''Arrival'' is the eleventh studio album by the American rock band Journey, released on April 3, 2001. A version with one substituted song was released in Japan in 2000. The album was the band's first full-length studio album with new lead vocalist Steve Augeri, who replaced popular frontman Steve Perry, and with Deen Castronovo, who replaced Steve Smith as the band's drummer. "Arrival" exhibits hard rock influences akin to the band's material from the 1970s and 1980s, while also featuring several ballads in the signature style the band achieved with Perry. Frontman Augeri's vocal work also retains a style quite similar to Perry. While relatively successful commercially, reaching the #12 spot on ''Billboard''s Top Internet Albums chart, ''Arrival'' received mixed critical reviews, with some considering the album formulaic, while praising such elements as Neal Schon's guitar playing. Journey is an American Rock music, rock band formed in San Francisco in 1973 by former members of Santana (band), Santana, the Steve Miller Band, and Frumious Bandersnatch. The band consists of Neal Schon on guitars and vocals (the last remaining original member); Jonathan Cain on keyboards, guitars and vocals; Deen Castronovo on drums and vocals; Arnel Pineda on lead vocals; Jason Derlatka on keyboards and vocals; and Todd Jensen on bass. Journey had their biggest commercial success between 1978 and 1987, when Steve Perry was lead vocalist; they released a series of hit songs, including "Don't Stop Believin' (1981), which in 2009 became the top-selling track in iTunes Store, iTunes history among songs not released in the 21st century. Hard rock or heavy rock is a heavier subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and Distortion (music), distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the Garage rock, garage, Psychedelic rock, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Lead Vocalist
The lead vocalist in popular music is typically the member of a group or band whose voice is the most prominent melody in a performance where multiple voices may be heard. Eric Bazilian
Eric Michael Bazilian (born July 21, 1953) is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and producer. Bazilian is a founding member of the rock band the Hooters. He wrote " One of Us", a song first recorded by Joan Osborne in 1995. Early life and education Eric Bazilian was born on July 21, 1953, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia to Stanford Bazilian, a psychiatrist, and Barbara Bazilian, a concert pianist. He is Jewish. Bazilian graduated from Germantown Friends School and studied physics at the University of Pennsylvania. Career The Hooters In college, Bazilian met Rob Hyman. Kim Tribble
Kim Chadwick Tribble (November 14, 1951-August 26, 2021) was an American country music songwriter. Active since the mid-1990s, he has written for David Lee Murphy, Montgomery Gentry, Doug Stone, and others. Two songs written by Tribble, " Guys Do It All the Time" by Mindy McCready and " I Can Still Feel You" by Collin Raye, have made number 1 on the Hot Country Songs charts. Tribble signed with SESAC in 2008. Tribble was a frequent collaborator of David Lee Murphy, having written songs on all of his albums. Taylor Laurence Rhodes is an American songwriter, producer, and musician from Nashville, Tennessee, most notable for his work with hard rock band Aerosmith since 1993. Music career 1980s In 1987, Rhodes co-wrote the lead-off minor hit title track from Y&T's album '' Contagious''. The following year, he co-wrote a single on fellow glam metal band Kix's commercial breakthrough album, ''Blow My Fuse''. Jonathan Cain
Jonathan Leonard Friga (born February 26, 1950), known professionally as Jonathan Cain, is an American musician, singer and songwriter. He is best known as the keyboardist and rhythm guitarist for Journey. He has also worked with the Babys and Bad English. Cain was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Journey in 2017. He also maintains a solo career as a contemporary Christian artist. Early life and education Cain was born in Chicago to Leonard and Nancy Friga. At the age of eight, Cain began accordion lessons, and by the time he was in his teens, he was playing accordion and piano at parties and in clubs. He also plays guitar, bass, and harmonica. Jack Martin Blades (born April 24, 1954) is an American rock musician. He has worked in the bands Rubicon (American band), Rubicon, Night Ranger (as bassist and one of the lead vocalists), and Damn Yankees (band), Damn Yankees (as one of the founding members). ''Next'' is the third studio album by Journey, released in February 1977. The band continued the formula from 1976's '' Look into the Future'' but this album also retains some of their progressive rock style from the first album. It is the last album to feature Gregg Rolie as the primary lead singer, and the last album to feature members of the band on the cover. "Spaceman"/"Nickel and Dime" was the single released from ''Next''. The instrumental "Cookie Duster" was listed in very early pressings of the album, though not actually included on the album. It was later released on Journey's ''Time³'' compilation. ''Next'' reached No. 85 on the ''Billboard'' 200 Albums charts. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is a trade organization that represents the music recording industry in the United States.
