It's noticeable for featuring the studio version of "L'Internazionale" which was only released as a single (and never on CD). Area – International POPular Group, most commonly known as Area or AreA, are an Italian progressive rock, jazz rock, electronic, experimental group formed in 1972 by singer Demetrio Stratos and drummer Giulio Capiozzo. They are considered one of the most respected, innovative and important bands of the blooming 1970s Italian progressive rock scene. History Demetrio Stratos' years: 1972–1979 Area were formed in Milan in 1972. They were originally composed of Demetrio Stratos (vocals), Giulio Capiozzo (drums and percussion), Victor Edouard "Eddie" Busnello (saxophone and flutes), Leandro Gaetano (piano), and Johnny Lambizzi (guitar), soon followed by Patrick Djivas (bass) and Patrizio Fariselli (keyboards). The band was led by Stratos, who was originally from Egypt, having been born in Alexandria to Greek parents. In 1973, Lambizzi left the band and was replaced by Paolo Tofani (guitar and synthesizer). Jazz fusion (also known as jazz rock, jazz-rock fusion, or simply fusion) is a popular music genre that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined jazz harmony and improvisation with rock music, funk, and rhythm and blues. ''Tic&Tac'' is the eighth album of the jazz fusion band Area and was released in 1980. It is the first album without Demetrio Stratos as he died a year earlier, and it is generally more jazzy than progressive. This is the only album in which performs. After releasing this, Area toured until 1983, then disbanded. in 1986 formed a jazz fusion band called Area II, but was the only original member. Area reformed officially in 1993 with a concert in Rome, as a trio, with Ares Tavolazzi, and Capiozzo. However, they didn't record anything new in studio until 1997 when the album " Chernobyl 7991" was released (without Tavolazzi). ''Anto/Logicamente'' is the first compilation of the jazz fusion band Area and was released in 1977. As the title suggests, the track selection focuses more on the tracks that were "hidden, ignored by the critics and many others", as told on the booklet. "Anto/Logicamente" is a play on words based on "antologia" (''compilation'', in this case), "anto" (''not'') and "logicamente" (''with sense''). Noticeably, this album contains "Citazione da George L. Jackson", the b-side of "L'internazionale". Unlike the other compilation "Area '70", this one was reprinted on CD by Artis (CRSCD 006) in 1994 and Edel (CRA 0142032) in 2002. Demetrio Stratos
Efstratios Dimitriou (; 22 April 1945 – 13 June 1979), known professionally as Demetrio Stratos, was a Greek-Italian vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and music researcher, best known as the co-founder, frontman and lead singer of the Italian progressive rock band Area – International POPular Group. Born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt, of Greek parents, he studied piano and accordion at the " National Conservatoire". In 1957 he was sent to Nicosia, Cyprus, and, at the age of 17, moved to Milan, Italy, to attend the Politecnico di Milano University at the Architecture Faculty, where he formed his first musical group. In 1967, Demetrio Stratos joined the Italian beat band I Ribelli, and in 1972, founded Area.
