Aquatics At The 2005 Southeast Asian Games
The aquatics events at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games included swimming, diving and water polo disciplines. All events were held in Trace College Aquatics Centre, Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines Swimming The Swimming competition was held 29 November to 4 December, and featured 32 events. Charnvudth Saengsri
Charnvudth Saengsri ( th, ชาญวุฒิ แสงศรี; born March 22, 1987) is a Thai former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. He is a two-time silver medalist in the 1500 m freestyle at the Southeast Asian Games (2003 and 2005). Saengsri qualified for two events, as Thailand's youngest swimmer (aged 17), at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by posting FINA B-standard entry times of 3:59.91 (400 m freestyle) and 15:56.22 (1500 m freestyle) from the 2003 Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam. On the first day of the Games, Saengsri placed thirty-third in the 400 m freestyle. He established a personal best and a Thai record of 3:59.89 to take a fourth spot in heat two, just 0.02 of a second faster than his entry time. Joscelin Yeo
Joscelin Yeo Wei Ling (; born 2 May 1979) is a former Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) from Nov 2006 to Apr 2011 and a former competitive swimmer from Singapore. Yeo won 40 gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games. She also represented Singapore in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Summer Olympics. Yeo was elected as a Rhodes Scholar but never took up the scholarship. During the 2012 London Olympics, she was a TV analyst for certain Asian markets on ESPN Star Sports. Yeo began her international swimming career at age 11, at the 1990 Asian Games. She swam at almost every major international meet, including the Southeast Asian Games (8 times), the Asian Games (4), the Olympics (4), and the Commonwealth Games (3). Felix Sutanto
Felix Christiadi Sutanto (born December 24, 1975, in Surabaya) is a retired Indonesian swimmer, who specialized in individual medley events. He represented Indonesia, along with his twin brother Albert, at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and later received a total of sixteen All-American titles at the NAIA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, while studying in the United States. Because of his tremendous career in college swimming, Sutanto was named the 2002 and 2003 Most Outstanding Male Swimmer of the Year by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Sutanto accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the California Baptist University in Riverside, California, where he majored in business administration, and played for the California Baptist Lancers swimming and diving team under head coach Rick Rowland. Albert Sutanto
Albert Christiadi Sutanto (born December 24, 1975) is an Indonesian former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly and medley events. He is a two-time Olympian (2000 and 2004), and multi medalist 9 Gold 5 Silver and 16 Bronze at the Southeast Asian Games (1991 to 2005). Sutanto made his first Indonesian team, along with his twin brother Felix, at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He failed to reach the top 16 in any of his individual events, finishing fifty-fifth in the 100 m butterfly (56.50), and forty-second in the 200 m butterfly (2:05.13). At the 2003 Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam, Sutanto won a bronze medal in the 200 m butterfly with a time of 2:05.03. James Bernard "J.B." Remandaban Walsh, OLY (born December 23, 1986) is an American-born competition swimmer who represented the Philippines in the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. Donny Budiarto Utomo (born March 13, 1979) is an Indonesian swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. He is a former multiple-time national record holder for the men's butterfly, and a six-time medalist at the Southeast Asian Games. He is also a two-time defending champion for the 200 m butterfly, before losing out to Malaysia's Daniel Bego at the 2007 Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand. Raphael Matthew Chua
Raphael Matthew "Timmy" Chua (born October 5, 1982) is a Filipino former swimmer, who specialized in breaststroke events. He is a two-time medalist in the same stroke at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games in his home city Manila. Chua started swimming at age eleven, when he and his brother decided to join the swimming team at the Philippine Columbian Association Sports Club. In 1995, he attended a swimming camp headed by American coach Mike Cody. He aimed three main goals: to claim a gold medal at the SEA Games, to advance further into the finals at the Asian Games, and most importantly, to place in the top 16 at the Olympics. Nguyễn Hữu Việt (1 October 1988 – 25 March 2022) was a Vietnamese swimmer who specialized in breaststroke events. He won a total of five medals (three golds, one silver, and one bronze), and set numerous records for both the 100 and 200 m breaststroke at the Southeast Asian Games (2003–2009). Mark Chay
Mark Chay Jung Jun (simplified Chinese: 蔡荣俊; born 18 February 1982) is a Singaporean freestyle swimmer who has represented the Republic in, amongst others, the SEA Games and Summer Olympics. His international swimming career began at the 1997 SEA Games, and stretched all the way till the 2005 SEA Games. In between, he has competed in a total of five SEA Games, two Asian Games, two Commonwealth Games and two Olympics. He has been awarded "Singapore Sportsboy of the Year" in 2000, and Sportsman of the Year in 2001. Chay competed and studied at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
