Albert Lieven
Albert Lieven (born Albert Fritz Liévin; 22 June 1906 – 22 December 1971) was a German actor. Early life Lieven was born in Olsztynek, Hohenstein, German Empire. His father was the head physician of the Tuberculosis sanatorium Hohenstein, where Lieven grew up. He started to study medicine but stopped the studies for financial reasons. Career Lieven started his career at theaters in Gera and Königsberg. His first screen role was in the German film ''Annemarie, the Bride of the Company, Annemarie, die Braut der Kompanie'' (''Bride of the Company'') in 1932. During the next four years he appeared in another sixteen films, including the German film adaptation of ''Charley's Aunt (1934 film), Charley's Aunt''. Owing to the rise of the Nazi Party in Germany and his wife Tatjana being Jewish, they moved to Britain in 1937. Olsztynek (Masurian dialects, Masurian: Ôlstÿnek; ) is today a town in northern Poland, in Olsztyn County, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It is the administrative seat of Gmina Olsztynek. It is part of the historic region of Masuria. ''The Lisbon Story'' is a 1943 British musical composed by Harry Parr-Davies with a Book by Harold Purcell. It was produced by Edward Black. The plot is a wartime spy thriller set in Lisbon and Paris during the summer of 1942. It premiered at the Imperial Theatre, Brighton before transferring to the West End where it ran for 493 performances at the London Hippodrome from 17 June 1943 to 8 July 1944. The original cast included Patricia Burke, Albert Lieven, Jack Livesey, Noele Gordon, Reginald Long and George Hayes. The song "Pedro the Fisherman" became a particular hit and was subsequently recorded by various artists including Richard Tauber, Gracie Fields, and Julie Andrews. ''Ripening Youth'' (German: ''Reifende Jugend'') is a 1933 German drama film directed by Carl Froelich and starring Heinrich George, Peter Voß and Hertha Thiele. Ealing Studios is a television and film production company and facilities provider at Ealing Green in west London, England. Will Barker bought the White Lodge on Ealing Green in 1902 as a base for film making, and films have been made on the site ever since. It is the oldest continuously working studio facility for film production in the world, and the current stages were opened for the use of sound in 1931. Gainsborough Pictures was a British film studio based on the south bank of the Regent's Canal, in Poole Street, Hoxton in the former Metropolitan Borough of Shoreditch, east London. Gainsborough Studios was active between 1924 and 1951. The company was initially based at Islington Studios, which were built as a power station for the Great Northern & City Railway and later converted to studios. Other films were made at Lime Grove and Pinewood Studios. The former Islington studio was converted to flats in 2004 and a London Borough of Hackney historical plaque is attached to the building.
