Al Jacquet
Al Jacquet is a Netherlands Antilles-born American politician and lawyer from Florida. He served two terms in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020, representing District 88 as a member of the Democratic Party. He ran for the seat after longtime officeholder Bobby Powell left for the Florida State Senate. Jacquet, who previously served as a commissioner for Delray Beach and as a practicing attorney at law, ran for the seat unopposed in the general election, defeating Edwin Ferguson and Angie Gray in the Democratic primary. Jacquet was defeated in the 2020 Democratic primary by Lake Worth Beach commissioner Omari Hardy. Jacquet lives in Riviera Beach, Florida, and graduated from DePauw University and the St. Thomas University School of Law Benjamin L. Riviera Beach is a city in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States, which was incorporated September 29, 1922. Due to the location of its eastern boundary, it is also the easternmost municipality in the Miami metropolitan area, which was home to an estimated 6,012,331 people in 2015. In the 2020 U.S. Census, the total population of Riviera Beach residents was 37,604 people. Riviera Beach is predominantly an African-American city and it is on the list of U.S. cities with African American majority populations. DePauw University is a private liberal arts university in Greencastle, Indiana. It has an enrollment of 1,972 students. The school has a Methodist heritage and was originally known as Indiana Asbury University. DePauw is a member of both the Great Lakes Colleges Association and the North Coast Athletic Conference. Omari J. Hardy (born November 28, 1989) is an American politician and former member of the Florida House of Representatives from the 88th district. He assumed office on November 3, 2020, and left in January 2022 following a congressional election defeat. Early life and education Hardy was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Miami. Career Hardy previously worked as an educator, and served as a member of the Lake Worth Beach, Florida City Commission.
