''Air Traffic Controller'' is a video game written by air traffic controller David Mannering. It was released by ''Creative Computing'' for the TRS-80 Model I and Exidy Sorcerer in 1978, and for the Apple II and Sol-20 in 1979. It was rewritten by Will Fastie and Bill Appelbaum for Data General AOS in 1980 and ported to MS-DOS for release by '' PC Disk Magazine'' in 1983. An enhanced version, ''Advanced Air Traffic Controller'', was published by ''Creative Computing'' in 1981 for the TRS-80, Apple II, Commodore PET, and Atari 8-bit computers. ''Creative Computing'' was one of the earliest magazines covering the microcomputer revolution. Published from October 1974 until December 1985, the magazine covered the spectrum of hobbyist/home/personal computing in a more accessible format than the rather technically oriented ''Byte (magazine), Byte''. The magazine was created to cover educational-related topics. Exidy was a developer and manufacturer of coin-operated amusements. The company was founded by H.R. "Pete" Kauffman and Samuel Hawes in 1973. The name "Exidy" was a portmanteau of the words "Excellence in Dynamics". ''Kennedy Approach'' is an air traffic control simulation computer game released by MicroProse for the Atari 8-bit family and Commodore 64 in 1985. It was designed by Andy Hollis. Ports for the Amiga and Atari ST were published in 1988. Gameplay The player assumes the role of a controller in a Terminal Radar Approach Control, giving instructions to aircraft so that they can safely land, as well as take off and enter their correct flight corridors. The purpose of the game is to manage the flights that are presented to the player without the flights being delayed or exiting/landing in the wrong location. The aircraft either come flying in on the screen and have preset exit or landing points or show up as wanting to take off with an exit point. Commodore PET
The Commodore PET is a line of personal computers produced starting in 1977 by Commodore International. A single all-in-one case combines a MOS Technology 6502 microprocessor, Commodore BASIC in read-only memory, keyboard, monochrome monitor, and, in early models, a cassette deck. Development of the system began in 1976, and a prototype was demonstrated at the January 1977 Consumer Electronics Show.
