An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of tertiary education. The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 386 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and Skills, skill, north of Ancient Athens, Athens, Greece. The Royal Spanish Academy defines academy as scientific, literary or artistic society established with public authority and as a teaching establishment, public or private, of a professional, artistic, technical or simply practical nature. Etymology The word comes from the ''Academy'' in ancient Greece, which derives from the Athenian hero, ''Akademos''. Outside the city walls of Athens, the Gymnasium (ancient Greece), gymnasium was made famous by Plato as a center of learning. La Academia
''La Academia'' (''The Academy'') is a Mexican reality musical talent television series shown on TV Azteca, that premiered in June 2002 and is currently in its thirteenth installment. Although the show itself is not affiliated with the Endemol franchise, which includes the " Star Academy" shows, it does share the competition format of many of the variants of the global franchise. Over the first seasons, the show was a reliable dominator of its time-slot, which was shown by its triumph over Televisa's ''Operación Triunfo Mexico'', in several countries including Chile, Peru and Venezuela. The rival show was only produced for one season, and was in fact the official Endemol entry in Mexico. The last seasons of ''La Academia'' had declining ratings, being aired against the Mexican version of '' The Voice'', produced by Televisa, and it eventually ceased production in 2012. La Academia (Paraguayan TV Series)
''La Academia'' was a Paraguayan musical reality show adapted from the Mexican program ''La Academia''. It was broadcast by Telefuturo from May 28 to September 24, 2013 and hosted by Dani Da Rosa. Structure ''La Academia'' is a talent show contest where the main requirements are to specialize in singing, dancing, and acting. People vote for their favorite contestant so that they don't end up with the lowest score and have to leave the academy. Contestants live in a 500 square meter house equipped with 30 cameras, a pool, and a Jacuzzi. They receive classes and live with their peers in confinement. They have a weekly concert where they are evaluated by critics and eliminated until a winner is announced. La Academia USA
''La Academia USA'' was the first musical reality show with only Hispanic contestants launched by Azteca America in October 2005. The auditions were done nationwide and a total of 30 people were chosen to go to Mexico where they would have to spend a week working hard and showing all of what they had inside to be chosen to the final 18. The first ''La Academia USA'' concert was on November 20, 2005. A week before the first concert, there was a special show that lasted two hours. In that show, footage from the auditions was shown. At the end, 12 of the 30 were eliminated leaving the lucky 18 that Azteca America had chosen to become the first generation of La Academia USA. One of the participants was Michael Anthony Muenchow Rivera, who was previously on Telemundo's song-based reality show ''Nuevas Voces de América'' (''New Voices of America'') in 2005; he was one of the 18 selected. The Academy (), variously known as Plato's Academy, or the Platonic Academy, was founded in Classical Athens, Athens by Plato ''wikt:circa, circa'' 387 BC. Acidemia
Acidosis is a biological process producing hydrogen ions and increasing their concentration in blood or body fluids. pH is the negative log of hydrogen ion concentration and so it is decreased by a process of acidosis. Acidemia The term acidemia describes the state of low blood pH, when arterial pH falls below 7.35 (except in the fetus – see below) while ''acidosis'' is used to describe the processes leading to these states. The use of acidosis for a low pH creates an ambiguity in its meaning. The difference is important where a patient has factors causing both acidosis and alkalosis, wherein the relative severity of both determines whether the result is a high, low, or normal pH. Alkalemia occurs at a pH over 7.45. Arterial blood gas analysis and other tests are required to separate the main causes. In certain situations the main cause is clear.
