Aa Gale Lag Jaa (1973 Film)
''Aa Gale Lag Jaa'' () is a 1973 Hindi romantic film directed by Manmohan Desai, based on a story by Smt. Jeevanprabha Desai. It stars Shashi Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore and Shatrughan Sinha. The film became a box office hit and was the 10th highest grossing Hindi film of 1973. Sushma Shreshta, Poornima received a Filmfare nomination as Best Female Playback Singer for the song "Tera Mujhse Hai." Her nomination is the only Filmfare nomination for the film. ''Aa Gale Lag Jaa'' is noted for its wonderful hit songs which had music by R.D. Burman with lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi. Manmohan Desai
Manmohan Desai (26 February 1937 – 1 March 1994) was an Indian film producer and director. He was one of the most successful filmmakers of the 70s and 80s. Desai was an influential and sought-after film director of Bollywood and a pioneer of making masala film, Masala films along with Prakash Mehra and Nasir Hussain. Family background Manmohan Desai was of Gujarati people, Gujarati ancestry. His father, Kikubhai Desai, was an Indian film producer and owner of Paramount Studios (later Filmalaya) from 1931 to 1941. His productions, mainly stunt films, included ''Circus Queen'', ''Golden Gang'', and ''Sheikh Challi''. Gajanan Jagirdar
Gajanan Jagirdar (2 April 1907 – 13 August 1988) was a veteran Indian film director, screenwriter and actor. He worked in Hindi Cinema, also called Bollywood, as well as Marathi cinema. The period of 1942 to 1947, saw his rise as a film director with Prabhat Films. He was appointed as the first director (then principal) of thFilm and Television Institute of India (FTII)in 1960 which was known as ''Film Institute of India'' then. Jagirdar served as the director of the FTII for just over a year, from 1961 to 1962. He was associated with the Prabhat Film Company three decades before his FTII role, when the campus was the base of the Prabhat. He became a well-known pedagogue applying the acting theories of Stanislavsky to the prevailing local conditions. Sushma Shrestha
Poornima Shrestha (born 6 September 1960 as Sushma Shrestha) is an Indian playback singer. Starting as a child artist, she became a leading playback singer in Bollywood during the 1990s. Early life Hailing from the Newar community from Nepal, Poornima was born as an Indian in Mumbai. Her father was music composer Bholanath Shrestha, who worked primarily with Hindi film music directors. He was from Kathmandu and settled in Kolkata and eventually in Mumbai. Horace Ward Martin Tavares Silver (September 2, 1928 – June 18, 2014) was an American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger, particularly in the hard bop style that he helped pioneer in the 1950s. After playing tenor saxophone and piano at school in Connecticut, Silver got his break on piano when his trio was recruited by Stan Getz in 1950. Silver soon moved to New York City, where he developed a reputation as a composer and for his bluesy playing. ''Song for My Father'' is a 1965 album by the Horace Silver Quintet, released on the Blue Note label in 1965. The album was inspired by a trip that Silver had made to Brazil. The cover artwork features a photograph of Silver's father, John Tavares Silver, to whom the title composition was dedicated. "My mother was of Irish and Negro descent, my father of Portuguese origin," Silver recalls in the liner notes: "He was born on the island of Maio, one of the Cape Verde Islands." Sahir Ludhianvi
Abdul Hayee (8 March 1921 – 25 October 1980), popularly known by his pen name (takhallus) Sahir Ludhianvi, was an Indian poet who wrote primarily in Urdu in addition to Hindi. He is regarded as one of the greatest film lyricists and poets of 20th century India. His work influenced Indian cinema, in particular Hindi language films. Sahir won a Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist for ''Taj Mahal'' (1963). He won a second Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist for his work in ''Kabhie Kabhie'' (1976).
