(doing business as AMC Theatres, originally an abbreviation for American Multi-Cinema; often referred to simply as AMC) is an American movie theater chain founded in Kansas City, Missouri, and now headquartered in Leawood, Kansas. AMC is a European TV channel launched by AMC Networks International. AMC replaced the MGM Channel in Portugal and Spain on 4 November 2014, and in Poland on 6 May 2016. AMC-produced dramas '' Halt & Catch Fire'' and '' The Divide'' are among the first original series that premiered on the channel. An advance market commitment (AMC) is a promise to buy or subsidise a product if it is successfully developed. AMCs are typically offered by governments or private foundations to encourage the development of vaccines or Medical treatment, treatments. In exchange, pharmaceutical companies commit to providing doses at a fixed price. This funding mechanism is used when the cost of research and development is too high to be worthwhile for the private sector without a guarantee of a certain quantity of purchases.
