ACC Women's Soccer Freshman Of The Year
The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) presents several annual honors for the best women's soccer players of the season. The conference currently presents individual awards for Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Midfielder of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, and Freshman of the Year. It also presents an award for Coach of the Year. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference in the United States. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, the ACC's eighteen member universities compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)'s NCAA Division I, Division I. ACC College football, football teams compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. The ACC sponsors competition in twenty-eight sports with many of its member institutions held in high regard nationally. Virginia Cavaliers Women's Soccer
The Virginia Cavaliers women's soccer team represents University of Virginia in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) of NCAA Division I women's college soccer. The team has won three regular season conference championships, in 2013, 2015 and 2021. The Cavaliers have also won the ACC Women's Soccer Tournament twice, in 2004 and 2012. The team has advanced to the NCAA Women's soccer tournament thirty three times. Their best appearance is runner up in 2014. History 1980s The Virginia Cavaliers women's soccer team was founded in 1985 with head coach Dan Beshoar. The team went 10–8–0 in their inaugural season and did not play in a conference. The University of Virginia was a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, but the conference did not begin to sponsor women's soccer until 1987. Duke Blue Devils Women's Soccer
The Duke Blue Devils women's soccer team represent Duke University in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) of NCAA Division I women's college soccer. The team was founded in 1988. The Blue Devils have won the ACC regular season championship four times. The team has advanced to the NCAA Women's soccer tournament 26 times, including 5 College Cup appearances. History 1980s Duke Women's Soccer was established in 1988 under head coach Bill Hempen, who was a Duke Men's soccer coach prior to this position. Hempen was assisted by Carla Overbeck, a previous player at UNC Chapel Hill. While at UNC, Overbeck remained unbeaten for four seasons, and won four national championships. Dukes first two seasons were successful ones. The team won 10 games in their inaugural 1988 season, and followed that with 14 wins in 1989. The ''News & Record'' is an American, English language newspaper with the largest circulation serving Guilford County, North Carolina, and the surrounding region. It is based in Greensboro, North Carolina, and produces local sections for Greensboro and Rockingham County, North Carolina. History The ''News & Record'' traces its roots to the ''Daily Record'' which was first printed on November 17, 1890, in Greensboro. An afternoon paper, it was begun by John Benson, Joseph Reece, and Harper J. Elam.
