2022 Maryland Elections
A general election was held in the U.S. state of Maryland on November 8, 2022. All of Maryland's executive officers were up for election as well as all of Maryland's eight seats in the United States House of Representatives, one of its U.S. senators, and the Maryland General Assembly, state legislature. Primaries were held on July 19, 2022. Polls were open from 7 AM to 8 PM Eastern Time Zone, EST. The Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party swept every statewide election, flipping the governorship and lieutenant governorship from the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, while maintaining supermajorities in Maryland's congressional districts, the state's congressional delegation and the state legislature. Maryland
Maryland ( ) is a state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. It shares borders with Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia to its south and west; Pennsylvania to its north; and Delaware and the Atlantic Ocean to its east. Daniel Lewis Cox (born August 9, 1974) is an American far-right politician. He is a Republican who represents the fourth district in the Maryland House of Delegates. He was also the secretary of the Frederick County Republican Central Committee from 2018 to 2021, and served as a Frederick County co-chair for the state's Trump Victory Leadership County team. He was the unsuccessful Republican nominee in the 2022 Maryland gubernatorial election and had been endorsed by former president Donald Trump. An election denier, Cox is a staunch proponent of the disproven conspiracy theory that the 2020 United States presidential election was marred by fraud. Brian Frosh
Brian E. Frosh (born October 8, 1946) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the Attorney General of Maryland. He also served five terms in the Maryland State Senate, representing Maryland's District 16 in Montgomery County. Prior to serving in the Senate, Frosh also represented District 16 in the Maryland House of Delegates, serving two four-year terms. Frosh was elected to his second term as attorney general on November 6, 2018. In his first term, Frosh joined Karl Racine, attorney general of the District of Columbia, in filing a lawsuit against Donald Trump, alleging he had violated the foreign and domestic emoluments clauses of the U.S. Constitution. ''The Aegis'' is a local newspaper in Harford County, Maryland, United States. Its first issue was published on February 2, 1923. History Before the Times Mirror Company, then-owners of ''The Baltimore Sun'', purchased ''The Aegis'' in 1986, it was known as ''The Aegis & Intelligencer''. In 1923, then-owner John D. Worthington, Sr. simplified its name to ''The Aegis''. Barry Glassman
Barry Glassman (born March 24, 1962) is an American politician who served as the 7th county executive of Harford County, Maryland, from 2014 to 2022. He was previously a member of the Maryland State Senate, representing District 35 in Harford County, Maryland; he was appointed in 2008 to fill a vacancy, and subsequently was re-elected to the position in 2010. Harford County, Maryland
Harford County is located in the U.S. state of Maryland. As of the 2020 census, the population was 260,924. Its county seat is Bel Air. Harford County is included in the Baltimore-Columbia-Towson, MD Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Washington-Baltimore-Arlington, DC-MD-VA-WV-PA Combined Statistical Area. Brooke Lierman
Brooke Elizabeth Lierman (born February 14, 1979) is an American civil rights attorney and politician who is the 34th Comptroller of Maryland. She was first elected in 2022, becoming the first female Comptroller of the state and the first woman elected to an independent state government office in Maryland. She was previously a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 46 in Baltimore. Thomas Edward Perez (born October 7, 1961) is an American politician and attorney who served as the Chair of the Democratic National Committee from February 2017 until January 2021. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is the governing body of the United States Democratic Party. The committee coordinates strategy to support Democratic Party candidates throughout the country for local, state, and national office, as well as works to establish a "party brand". It organizes the Democratic National Convention held every four years to nominate a candidate for President of the United States and to formulate the party platform.
