2021–22 Boston College Eagles Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Boston College Eagles men's basketball team represented Boston College during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles, were led by first-year head coach Earl Grant, played their home games at the Conte Forum as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Eagles finished 13–20 overall and 6–14 in ACC play to finish in a three way tie for eleventh place. As the thirteenth seed in the ACC tournament, they defeated twelfth seed Pittsburgh in the first round and fifth seed Wake Forest in the second round before losing to fourth seed Miami in the quarterfinals. They were not invited to the NCAA tournament or the NIT. Previous season The Eagles finished the 2020–21 season 4–16, 2–11 in ACC play to finish in last place. Earl Grant (basketball)
Earl Grant (born December 25, 1976) is an American college basketball coach and the current head coach for the Boston College Eagles men's basketball team. Prior to being named head coach at Boston College, Grant served as head coach at the College of Charleston, as an assistant coach at Clemson University, and an assistant coach for six years under former Charleston assistant coach Gregg Marshall at Wichita State and Winthrop University. Grant also served as an assistant coach at The Citadel. Biography A native of North Charleston, South Carolina, Grant went to R.B. Stall High School. He played college basketball at the NCAA Division II level at Georgia College for two years. He led Georgia College to consecutive Peach Belt Conference championships and the Elite Eight of the 2000 NCAA Tournament. The 2020–21 Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team represented Duke University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were coached by 41st-year head coach, Mike Krzyzewski. The Blue Devils played their home games at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina, as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Known for consistent high-level performance under Krzyzewski's tenure, the Blue Devils struggled to match their norm this season. Duke fell out of the AP and Coaches Poll rankings within the first few weeks and struggled to maintain a winning record. The Blue Devils finished the 2020–21 season 13–11, and 9–9 to finish in tenth place in ACC play. Duke spent much of the late season on the bubble, according to bracketologists, and ultimately their season ended when a positive COVID-19 test forced them to drop out of the ACC tournament ahead of the quarterfinals.
