2021 Cup Of China
The 2021 Cup of China was scheduled to be the third event in the 2021–22 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was to be held at the Chongqing Huaxi Culture and Sports Center in Chongqing on November 5–7. Medals would have been awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. Skaters would have earned points toward qualifying for the 2021–22 Grand Prix Final. On August 16, 2021, the International Skating Union announced the cancellation of Cup of China, citing the limited number of international flights to China and strict COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. In an attempt to preserve the Grand Prix series, the ISU asked for other ISU members to apply as hosts on the originally scheduled dates. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. Pair Skating
Pair skating is a figure skating discipline defined by the International Skating Union (ISU) as "the skating of two persons in unison who perform their movements in such harmony with each other as to give the impression of genuine Pair Skating as compared with independent Single Skating".S&P/ID 2021, p. 109 The ISU also states that a pairs team consists of "one Woman and one Man". Pair skating, along with men's and women's single skating, has been an Olympic discipline since figure skating, the oldest Winter Olympic sport, was introduced at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London. Zhu Yi (; born Beverly Zhu on September 19, 2002) is an American figure skater based on China who competes in women's singles. She has competed in the final segment at two ISU Championships, placing 13th at the 2020 Four Continents Championships and 22nd at 2020 World Junior Championships. Ashley Lin
Ashley Lin or Lin Shan (; born March 12, 2003) is a Chinese-American figure skater, who represents China in ladies' singles. She is the 2020 Chinese national bronze medalist. She won the 2017 U.S. national junior bronze medal, before switching to representing China internationally. Personal life Lin was born in Frisco, Texas on March 12, 2003 to Chinese immigrants from Shanghai. Her parents both work in computer companies. Shane Firus (born February 21, 1994) is a Canadian ice dancer. With his skating partner, Carolane Soucisse, he is the 2018 Four Continents silver medallist.
