2021 French Regional Elections
Regional elections were held in France on 20 June and 27 June 2021. At stake were the regional councils in metropolitan and overseas France including the Corsican Assembly, Assembly of French Guiana and Assembly of Martinique, all for a six-year term. The Departmental Council of Mayotte, which also exercises the powers of a region, also participated in this election, because the departmental elections were held at the same time. Eighteen regional presidencies were at stake, with thirteen in mainland France and Corsica, as well as five overseas. Though they do not have legislative autonomy, these territorial collectivities manage sizable budgets. Moreover, regional elections are often perceived as a mid-term opinion poll. Renaissance (RE), previously known as La République En Marche ! (frequently abbreviated LREM, LaREM or REM; translated as "The Republic on the Move" or "Republic Forward"), or sometimes called simply En Marche ! () as its original name, is a liberal political party in France. The French Communist Party (french: Parti communiste français, ''PCF'' ; ) is a political party in France which advocates the principles of communism. The PCF is a member of the Party of the European Left, and its MEPs sit in the European United Left–Nordic Green Left group. New Deal (France)
New Deal (french: Nouvelle Donne) is a Keynesian liberal and progressive political party in France. It was founded on 18 November 2013 by Pierre Larrouturou. Its stated aims are to renew how democracy is used, and it has social, ecological and economic goals, which could be defined as left-wing. History In the wake of the 2012 French presidential election, the "Collectif Roosevelt" was launched to promote 15 propositions to all the candidates, which had been signed into a manifesto by over 100,000 people. After François Hollande's victory, Pierre Larrouturou and Stéphane Hessel chose to put these ideas to vote within the Parti Socialiste (PS) at the Toulouse meeting, which was to elect the new leader of the party. Ecology Generation
Ecology Generation (french: Génération écologie) is one of the four green parties in France, along with Europe Ecology – The Greens (), the Independent Ecological Movement (), and Cap Écologie. Founded in 1990 by Brice Lalonde, Environment Minister, upon the suggestion of President François Mitterrand, it describes itself as a club with cross-party alliances of green-minded politicians and public servants. It moved away from the "presidential majority" in 1992, when Brice Lalonde left the cabinet.
