2021 Australian Open – Mixed Doubles
Two-time defending champion Barbora Krejčíková and her partner Rajeev Ram defeated Samantha Stosur and Matthew Ebden in the final, 6–1, 6–4 to win the mixed doubles tennis title at the 2021 Australian Open. It was the pair's second major mixed doubles title as a team, after their first at the 2019 Australian Open. They saved a match point en route to the title, in the second round against Ena Shibahara and Ben McLachlan. Krejčíková and Nikola Mektić were the defending champions, but chose to play separately this year. Mektić partnered Barbora Strýcová, but was defeated in the first round by Hayley Carter and Sander Gillé. After not being held at the 2020 US Open and postponed 2020 French Open due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's tournament marked the return of mixed doubles to a Grand Slam tournament. Barbora Krejčíková (; born 18 December 1995) is a Czech professional tennis player. She has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 2, achieved on 28 February 2022, and on 22 October 2018, she became world No. 1 in doubles. Krejčíková has won one Grand Slam singles title and nine major doubles titles, including the career Super Slam in doubles. Nicole Melichar-Martinez (née Melichar; cz, Nicole Melicharová, ) is an American tennis player who specializes in doubles. She has won twelve doubles titles on the WTA Tour and one WTA 125 doubles title as well as two singles and seven doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. In May 2021, she peaked at No. 9 in the doubles rankings. Joe Salisbury ( ; born 20 April 1992) is a British professional tennis player who is a former world No. 1 in doubles. He is a five-time Grand Slam champion, having won the 2020 Australian Open, the 2021 US Open and the 2022 US Open in men's doubles, partnering Rajeev Ram. Salisbury has also won two mixed doubles titles, at the 2021 French Open and US Open alongside Desirae Krawczyk.
