2016 Women's British Open
The 2016 Ricoh Women's British Open was played 28–31 July in England at the Woburn Golf and Country Club near Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, northwest of London. It was the 40th Women's British Open, and the 16th as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. It was the tenth Women's British Open at Woburn; the most recent was in 1999, prior to it becoming a major on the LPGA Tour. For the first time, it was held on the Marquess' Course, which opened in 2000. Ariya Jutanugarn won her first major title, three strokes ahead of runners-up Mirim Lee and, Mo Martin, the 2014 champion. Golf Channel and NBC televised the event in the United States for the first time, while BBC Sport handled the coverage in the UK, for the last time. Mirim Lee (born 25 October 1990), also known as Lee Mi-rim, is a South Korean professional golfer. Lee turned professional in 2009. She has played on the LPGA of Korea Tour since 2010 and has won three events on that tour. Maria McBride
Maria Anna Hjorth (born 15 October 1973) is a Swedish professional golfer. Early years Hjorth was born in Falun. As the youngest of three daughters to Kjell and Monica Hjorth, she first gripped a golf club at three years of age. Six years old, she traveled with her family, to compete in the unofficial Swedish Championship for children, the Colgate Cup, for girls up to 10 years of age. After the round, her older sister helped her to count the score. Nordic skiing was a main interest during winter time. Teresa Lu
Teresa Lu (born 13 October 1987) is a Taiwanese professional golfer. Lu played on the Ladies Asian Golf Tour in 2006 and 2007, on the LPGA Tour from 2006 to 2010 and on the LPGA of Japan Tour (JLPGA) since 2010. She won the Mizuno Classic in 2013, a tournament co-sanctioned by the LPGA and JLPGA. She picked up three additional wins on the JLPGA in 2014 and five in 2015. Lydia Ko (born 24 April 1997) is a New Zealand professional golfer and the No. 1-ranked woman professional golfer. Kim Hyo-joo (; ; born 14 July 1995), also known as Hyo Joo Kim, is a South Korean professional golfer who plays on the LPGA of Korea Tour. Cristie Kerr (born October 12, 1977) is an American professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour. She has 20 wins on the LPGA Tour, including two major championships, and over $19 million in career earnings. Golf telecasts have aired on NBC since 1954, with some of its earliest telecasts having included the 1954 U.S. Open, and the first televised coverage of the Ryder Cup in 1959.
