2016 Prime Minister's Resignation Honours
The 2016 Prime Minister's Resignation Honours are honours awarded following the July 2016 resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron. The life peerages and other honours were issued as two separate lists by the Cabinet Office on 4 August 2016 and all honours were gazetted as one list on 16 August 2016. This was the first Prime Minister's Resignation Honours since 1997. On 22 July 2016, it was alleged that officials in the Cabinet Office and the House of Lords Appointments Commission had blocked the list, citing ethical concerns about some of the intended recipients of honours, particularly those destined for the peerage. Many of the names of those honoured were leaked and published in the press on 31 July. On 1 August, Downing Street spokesperson said that the incoming prime minister, Theresa May, would not intervene in Cameron's resignation honours. Alexander Andrew Macdonell Fraser, Baron Fraser of Corriegarth (2 December 1946 – 6 February 2021) was an English banker, treasurer of the Conservative Party of the United Kingdom and was a member of the House of Lords. Westminster City Council is the local authority for the City of Westminster in Greater London, England. The city is divided into 20 wards, each electing three councillors. The council is currently composed of 31 Labour Party members and 23 Conservative Party members. The council was created by the London Government Act 1963 and replaced three local authorities: Paddington Metropolitan Borough Council, St Marylebone Metropolitan Borough Council and Westminster Borough Council. Philippa Marion Roe, Baroness Couttie (25 September 1962 – 12 December 2022) was a British Conservative politician, who served as Leader of Westminster City Council from 2012 to 2017. Morningside (Edinburgh Ward)
Morningside is one of the seventeen wards used to elect members of the City of Edinburgh Council. Established in 2007 along with the other wards, it elects four Councillors. As its name suggests, the ward's territory is based around the community of Morningside to the south of the city centre, also including Braid Hills, Bruntsfield, Burghmuirhead ( Church Hill and Holy Corner), Greenbank, Greenhill, Marchmont, Merchiston and Polwarth. A minor 2017 boundary change in the north of the ward saw the loss of the densely-populated Tollcross neighbourhood, but the overall population increased slightly due to housebuilding in other areas. At that time, the ward's name was also amended from its original title of Morningside/Meadows – the well-known Meadows park area to which this referred had never been fully within its boundaries. Mark McInnes, Baron McInnes of Kilwinning, (born 4 November 1976) is a Scottish Conservative politician and member of the House of Lords. He was educated at Kilwinning Academy and the University of Edinburgh (MA, 1998). Edward David Gerard Llewellyn, Baron Llewellyn of Steep, (born 23 September 1965) is a British diplomat and former political adviser serving as the British Ambassador to Italy since 2022. He previously served as the British Ambassador to France from 2016 to 2021 and as the Downing Street Chief of Staff under former prime minister David Cameron from 2010 to 2016. Timothy John Robert Kirkhope, Baron Kirkhope of Harrogate (born 29 April 1945) is a British lawyer and politician who previously served as Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Yorkshire and the Humber for the Conservative Party.
