The 2015 Kansas City Royals season was the 47th for the franchise, and their 43rd at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals made their second consecutive World Series appearance in 2015, after winning the American League in 2014. They won the series for the first time since 1985. The team won their first AL Central title on September 24, 2015, the first time the Royals won their division since 1985. They opened the playoffs by defeating the Houston Astros in five games in the Division Series and then defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in six games in the American League Championship Series. 2015 World Series
The 2015 World Series was the championship series of Major League Baseball's (MLB) 2015 season. The 111th edition of the World Series, it was a best-of-seven playoff between the National League (NL) champion New York Mets and the American League (AL) champion Kansas City Royals. The series was played between October 27 and November 1, with the Royals winning the series 4games to 1, clinching the team's second World Series and first since the 1985 series. It was the first time since 2010 that the Series extended into November. The Royals had home field advantage for the series because of the AL's 6–3 victory in the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Steve Physioc
Steve Physioc () is a retired American sportscaster who has called play-by-play for various baseball, basketball, and football teams. He retired while working with the Kansas City Royals, who he had worked with since February of 2012. Early life and education Physioc grew up as a Kansas City Royals fan in Merriam, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University in 1977. Career He began his announcing career as Sports Director for KHAS radio in Hastings, Nebraska, covering local high school and Hastings College athletics. After that he went on to become the radio voice of Kansas State Wildcats football and basketball ( 1979–1982). Mitch Holthus took over after he left K-State. Joshua David Willingham (born February 17, 1979) is a former American professional baseball left fielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Florida Marlins, Washington Nationals, Oakland Athletics, Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals. Early years He was born in Florence, Alabama to David and Denise Willingham where he played high school baseball and basketball at Mars Hill Bible School. Willingham attended college at the University of North Alabama. The 1985 Kansas City Royals season was the 17th season in Royals franchise history. It ended with the Royals' first World Series championship over their inter-state rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals.
