2013–14 Anaheim Ducks Season
The 2013–14 Anaheim Ducks season was the 21st season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise. The Ducks achieved their best regular season record in franchise history, amassing 116 points and finishing first in the Western Conference and second in the NHL, behind the Boston Bruins by only a single point. However, the Ducks only won one playoff series; after defeating the Dallas Stars in six games in the first round, they fell in seven games to their crosstown rival Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference Semifinal. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference (french: Conférence de l'Ouest) is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The conferences and divisions were re-aligned in 1981 to better reflect the geographical locations of the teams, but the existing names were retained with the Campbell Conference becoming the conference for the NHL's westernmost teams. The 2013–14 Phoenix Coyotes season was the franchise's 35th season in the National Hockey League (NHL), the 18th in Arizona and the 42nd overall, including the seasons the franchise played in the World Hockey Association. The 2013–14 Columbus Blue Jackets season was the 14th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 25, 1997. Before the season, the team was moved into the Eastern Conference as a member of the Metropolitan Division. Frederik Andersen
Frederik "Freddie" Andersen (born 2 October 1989) is a Danish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL). He previously played for the Anaheim Ducks and Toronto Maple Leafs. Andersen was a member of Denmark's national team that competed at the 2010 IIHF World Championship. He was selected by the Hurricanes in the seventh round, 187th overall, of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Unable to come to terms with the Hurricanes, however, Andersen later re-entered the draft and was selected in the third round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, 87th overall, by the Ducks, with whom he spent the first few years of his NHL career. The 2013–14 Winnipeg Jets season was the 15th season for the National Hockey League franchise and the third in Winnipeg. The franchise played in Atlanta since the 1999–2000 NHL season, and relocated to Winnipeg following the conclusion of the 2010–11 NHL season.
