2013 Azerbaijani Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Azerbaijan on 9 October 2013. The result was a victory for incumbent President Ilham Aliyev, who received a reported 84.5% of the vote, whilst leading opposition candidate Jamil Hasanli finished second with a reported 5.5% of the vote. The election was marred by claims of irregularities; official results were accidentally released by the government's Central Election Commission through a mobile app before voting began, giving incumbent Aliyev a victory with 72.76% of the vote. The commission later recalled the results, claiming that they were taken from the 2008 elections. This claim has been disputed, given that the results accidentally released included the candidates from the 2013 elections, and that the percentages differed from the 2008 results. Ilham Aliyev
Ilham Heydar oghlu Aliyev ( az, İlham Heydər oğlu Əliyev, ; born 24 December 1961) is the fourth president of Azerbaijan, serving in the post since 31 October 2003. The son and second child of the former Azerbaijani leader Heydar Aliyev, Ilham Aliyev became president of Azerbaijan in 2003 following his father's death, in an 2003 Azerbaijani presidential election, election defined by election fraud. Azerbaijani Popular Front Party
The Azerbaijani Popular Front Party (APFP; az, Azərbaycan Xalq Cəbhəsi Partiyası, ) is a political party in Azerbaijan, founded in 1992 by Abulfaz Elchibey. After Elchibey's death in 2000, the party split into two wings, the ''reform'' wing led by Ali Kerimli and the ''classical'' wing led by Mirmahmud Miralioglu.
