The 2009 Indonesia Open Superseries was the sixth tournament of 2009 BWF Superseries badminton tournament. It was held from 16 to 21 June 2009 in Jakarta, Indonesia. BWF Super Series
The BWF Super Series was a series of Grade 2 badminton tournaments, sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF). It was launched on December 14, 2006 and implemented in 2007. Since 2011, the Super Series includes two levels of tournament, Super Series Premier and Super Series. A season of Super Series featured twelve tournaments around the world, including five of them classified as Super Series Premier. Super Series Premier tournament offers higher ranking point and higher minimum total prize money. Top eight players/pairs in each discipline in Super Series standings are invited to the Super Series Finals held at the year end. BWF announced a new tournament structure in March 2017, BWF World Tour together with the new hosts for 2018–2021 cycle to replace this Super Series tournaments. Lin Dan
Lin Dan (born 14 October 1983) is a Chinese former professional badminton player. He is a two-time Olympic champion, five-time World champion, as well as a six-time All England champion. Widely regarded as the greatest badminton player of all time, by the age of 28 Lin had completed the "Super Grand Slam", having won what some consider to be the nine major titles in the badminton world: Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cup, Thomas Cup, Sudirman Cup, Super Series Masters Finals, All England Open, Asian Games, and Asian Championships, becoming the first and only player to achieve this feat. He also became the first men's singles player to retain the Olympic gold medal by winning in 2008 and successfully defending his title in 2012. Arvind Bhat
Arvind Bhat (born 7 June 1979) is a male badminton player from Bangalore, India. Career Arvind started his career in Youth centre at the age of 11 in 1991. He proved his mettle at a young age by winning many age group level events at the state. Trained at Sadashivanagar club from 1994 to 1997. He trained at Karnataka Badminton association from 1997 to 2015. He went on to win Sr. State Championships in 2001. His performance at State and National level in the year 2001-2002 got the nod of selectors and was selected in the Indian team in the year 2002. He also got a call from German clubs to play at the leagues matches there and made a base in Europe for the next 12 years living there for 3–5 months in a year every year. Andre Kurniawan Tedjono
Andre Kurniawan Tedjono (born 7 December 1986) is an Indonesian badminton player who specializes in singles. Tedjono joined the PB Djarum club in 1998. Career While still in his teens Tedjono won the Indonesian (closed) national men's singles title in 2003 and 2005. His best international results thus far are victories in the 2007 New Zealand Open and the 2008 Dutch Open. 2008 Tedjono won the Indonesia International. Lü Yi (badminton)
Lü Yi (; born 30 April 1985) is a badminton player from the People's Republic of China. He entered the national second team in 2002, and was promoted to the first team in 2006. He was part of the national junior team that won the gold medal at the 2002 World Junior Championships. In the individual events, he was the champions at the 2007 Austrian International, Bitburger Open, and Russian Open. Muhammad Hafiz Hashim
Muhammad Hafiz bin Hashim (born 13 September 1982) is a former Malaysian badminton player whose biggest success is having won the 2003 All England Open Badminton Championships. He is currently the Malaysia national junior under-15 singles coach. Personal life He studied at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sultan Ismail before transferring to Kuala Lumpur. Then, he transferred back to Kelantan and studied in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pintu Geng before he transferred to Sultan Ismail College. He achieved worldwide fame when he won the All England Open Badminton Championships in 2003. He is one of the most successful Malay badminton players aside from the Sidek brothers. Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus (born 16 January 1986) is a Danish badminton player. He was a member of the winning Denmark team at the 2016 Thomas Cup in Kunshan, China. Career Junior He won 4 junior national titles, 2 in singles in 2003 and 2005 and 2 in men's doubles in 1999 and 2003. Simon Santoso
Simon Santoso (born 29 July 1985) is an Indonesian former badminton player. He was two-time Southeast Asian Games men's singles champion winning in 2009 and 2011, also featured in Indonesia team that won the men's team title in 2003, 2007, 2009, and 2011. Santoso won the Indonesia Open a Superseries Premier tournament in 2012. He reached a career high as world number 3 in August 2010. Joachim Persson
Joachim Persson (born 23 May 1983) is a badminton player from Denmark. Career Persson was born in Denmark but his family moved to Germany in his early years. He began to playing badminton in Trittau, Germany together with his parents. As German player, he helped the German team to win the mixed team title at the 2001 European Junior Championships, also won a silver medal in the singles event. In 2002, he moved back to Denmark and started to practice at Brøndby. He played the 2006 IBF World Championships in men's singles and he was defeated in the third round by Lee Chong Wei 21–16, 21–12.
